I'm thinking about rooting my Galaxy S2 T989 (tmobile). If I do this am I still on tmobile?

If you can't tell, I'm a total noob and first time poster.

Yes rooting has nothing to do with changing carriers. All rooting is doing is opening up access to admin level stuff. Basically the /system/ level of your filesystem which allows you to do many things from running unofficial custom ROMs (Android OS) to just running stock w/root option which allows you to run & use different apps and even remove that dreaded BLOATWARE :)

But be aware, rooting does void your warranty while its in the "rooted" state so if something was to go wrong and were to take it in for repair a carrier store/OEM has every right to deny you warranty. That is why there is always a restore to stock/unroot method available ;)

Root just gives you access to and ability to change files at the system level that ate normally locked down. It doesn't change your service plan or carrier.

Root access can also open up options in some apps as well.
