If It's The 24th, Isn't It Time For An Announcement And Preorders?

Yes you will.

I'm pretty sure the discount only applies to your service. My discount is 21% with Morgan Stanley. I also receive a 35% discount on accessories. But when I bought the Dinc last year, neither discount applied to the price of the phone.

True. My mom gets a discount of our VZ bill through the post office. But she still has to pay full for her phone. Only reason i get a discount from BB is because there selling the phone. But at VZ, i would only get a discount off our plan and accessories

I hope everyone realizes that the OP was NOT in a Verizon store, but in a Verizon retailer (3rd party owned).

None of what he/she said is true for REAL Verizon stores.

i didnt read all the garbage posted but i guarantee the OP was not in a corporate VZW store...if one corporate store was doing pre-orders they all would

there will be 1 year simmer down

Even if you buy the phone at BestBuy, you can still get the Verizon (Assurion) insurance. That's not a reason for not buying at BestBuy. Verizon insurance is $6/month, or $8/month to extend the manufacturer's warranty to 2-years.

So I should stay with BB and the assurioun insurance will be good?

if verizon gets rid of one year contracts like they did with earlly upgrades and new every two then Im going to get my ham radio license and keep my $300 a month in my pocket and I wil be able to talk any where for FREE I even remeber my dad making phone calls over his ham radio back in the
80's.

Clarification

1st. I enter a store that said Verizon.(retailer or store???)

2nd. I saw to my left in window an ad for the HTC Thunderbolt. Then in center another ad in the middle of the store.(THEY ARE JUST ADS)

3rd. That Verizon store that I was in told me they no longer do one year contracts.(IN STORE ONLY) Now as far as every other Verizon store they don't do at all from what I was told.. Also the best buy store I went to no longer does a 1 year contract either.(Now if your store does then you are lucky and I am unlucky)

4th. What the reps where told from their store manager was basically people on a 1 year contract can not transfer their number to a new contract.(Take it with a grain of salt)

5th. Lastly the store I went to is doing pre-orders and said local stores they are doing as well. The catch is you have to ask and see. I ask and could of pre-order but I already have pre-order with BB.

(WARNING THIS RESULT ABOVE WHAT HAPPEN WHEN ONE CERTAIN INDIVIDUAL WENT INTO A CERTAIN STORE THAT IS ALL. ALL OTHER INDIVIDUAL'S EXPERIENCES MAY VARY)

verizon still does 1 year contracts, they might say that to lock you in. thats sad an shady. but 1 years still on site an that would be insane not to offer 1 year

I do not believe so. I asked 2 reps and each said no, you must purchase from VZW to use their Assurian Insuance. That is why I will be purchasing from VZW most likely

I just got of the phone with a local BB is mobile told they can add Verizon's insurance plans. Sorry did not ask which ones specifically I was just left it at that. Whenever the phone comes out I will make my decision then.)

Don't let that be your reason for buying it at Verizon. I know for a fact that Assurion insurance is available, regardless of where you buy your phone. I bought my Droid at Best Buy and got Assurion (I know because I actually had to replace my first one, which was stolen), and I bought my Fascinate through Amazon and retained the Assurion insurance on it as well.

For several reasons this makes no sense....
I got to talking to the rep and found out to my surprise that Verizon stores don't do 1 year contracts but as well no phone upgrade on 1 year contract. (SORRY IF THIS OLD NEWS)
ALL corporate stores do 1 year contracts, 2 year contracts and month to month service.
Furthermore when a 1 year contract is up you can't transfer your phone number to the next contract.
are you saying they told you on a 1 year contract you had to get a NEW number?

because that is not only a lie, but the ONLY reason they would do that is to generate a new line of business revenue for their commission.
However they were taking in store pre-orders which is 100 dollar deposit yet to find out if the 100 dollars is refundable.
This has re-seller written all over it. indirect, not coporate, they play by a different set of rules, sometimes good, sometimes not so good.

And yes I worked for Verizon, and still have close personal friends that are still there. I was a store manager, and all of them are store managers.
