If undecided between evo and vibrant, watch video.

Unless you want it mostly for gaming and for video. Which i thought were the two things the Vibrant had an advantage in.

Does seem to be a bit flacky over wifi. I get amazing speeds on speedtest's app but on occasion it gets stuck.

Vibrant in the video seems to be running pretty slow but did you run the test after restarting both phones? I dont have an android yet, and I dont know much about its memory management but the Vibrant unit I played with in store today was way way faster and more responsive than the one in this video, so I cant just accept that evo is more responsive compared to vibrant. It seems like the this vibrant was running pretty low on memory to start with and maybe thats why it just crashed towards the end.

I had restarted the Vibrant, not the Evo. Ive done a million competitions in the last two days hoping to have the vibrant win, because i love the screen, but same results. Posted this on the Evo forum, someone suggested maybe it was a bad phone...i dont know, hopefully more comparisons show up on youtube soon.

Yeah, the demo model in the store loaded apps much faster than that. There is something wrong with the phone, or an app you have on it is screwing it up. Also, I wouldn't use a task killer, they cause more problems than they seem to help.

Yes, try the test again WITHOUT killing apps. Just reboot both phones and then start using them just like you normally would. It's very possible you are killing off something that is needed to run properly.

Same results, ive tried this for two days straight in many different ways trying to get some wins for the Vibrant , since thats my phone...the evos is my wifes

I seriously think there's something wrong with your phone. I have seen some other reviews and I have never seen as much lag as yours. The Evo wins win it comes to the speed factor in loading apps but usually it's by like half a second, not 10 seconds. I would rather have a frame rate that is decent over loading apps faster, personal preference.

Phone is fine.... 55.7 FPS, 8.008 MFLOPS on linpack and 858 score on quadrant. Great for gaming, great graphics, beautiful screen, but once you get a couple of apps running it lags...a lot. I posted those links with a lot of people having the same issues. If you run one app or 2 at a time its fast.

Check out the review on the homepage. Phil ran over 6 apps (more like 10) and closed them out with the home button (how you would multi-task) and it didn't slow down. My guess is that the people with the stalling issue have a poorly written app.

I've also used the Vibrant in depth (god I love that screen) and have tried to pummel the system with multi-tasking. No hiccups except when I tried to let it sync all data (Google, Weather, Stocks, News) and then opening a Flash heavy website; oh yeah, already had about 6 apps open, including Slacker which is a known CPU hog.

Just didn't happen for me.

It still does a better job at Multi-tasking than my iPad. Bazinga.

I think it is true. Keith...jailbreak the Ipad and multitasking is very nice on it with circutious (i think thats the name) or the program that has cards, like web os on the Pre.

Don't make Me laugh. The iPad cant hold a candle to webos. Circuitous works in an emergency, but I almost never have multiple apps open simultaneously. Not only is it extremely cumbersome and buggy, it runs out of memory pretty quickly.

what? that made no sense you are saying that WEBOS as compared to an IPAD as a whole?
you are insane if you think the ipad hardware is not superior to any webos device right now.

as far as webos vs ios, thats a whole different story and ipad will be getting ios4 this fall so itll be even more of a discussion.

I love webos and I have a palm pre now but my ipad blows it out of the water performance wise and circuitrous works JUST FINE i use it all the time. memory? i guess if i tried to run 10 apps at once it would run out of memory. I normally run 2-3 and its absolutely fine.
