If undecided between evo and vibrant, watch video.

I am not too familiar with the Android internals but its confusing that there is internal SD and NAND. What is the difference between the two and doesn't SD mean external SD card, then what is internal SD? Anyone care to share?

It appears that the NAND is being used in a way normally an SD card is used and hence making it slower

normally internal rom or nand is MUch faster than the SD card use

so thats why android phones have rom and storage separate

it would appear that the galaxy is using them as one and treating it as if it was SD card space causing performance issues

i am no expert on this issue though so anyone care to correct me please do

NAND is built into the phone and the SD storage is technically the same as plugging an external hard drive to your computer. It is great for storing data and such but not great for applications to run off as it cannot communicate as fast as built in storage. There is no such thing as internal and external SD storage unless youre referring to an external sd access (a gate to access your SD card on the side of the phone) or internal sd access (sd card is inside by the battery).

sure that sounds right but what I am saying is that the samsung galaxy s has apparent performance issues with the way it manages this storage either one.

what? that made no sense you are saying that WEBOS as compared to an IPAD as a whole?
you are insane if you think the ipad hardware is not superior to any webos device right now.

as far as webos vs ios, thats a whole different story and ipad will be getting ios4 this fall so itll be even more of a discussion.

I love webos and I have a palm pre now but my ipad blows it out of the water performance wise and circuitrous works JUST FINE i use it all the time. memory? i guess if i tried to run 10 apps at once it would run out of memory. I normally run 2-3 and its absolutely fine.

I'm talking about multitasking. Eebos is way bette at it than a jailbroken ipad.

Im not denying that Im just explaining the differences in hardware that the poster asked for. Basically compare an external USB HDD (on sata 3.0Gbps interface converted to USB) to an internal SATA 3.0Gbps and you will see a HUGE difference. That is all.

I agree 100%.

I am sad to admit this, because I returned my Evo for the Epic, bought the Vibrant to try it out and here it is on wi-fi under normal use compared to my wifes Evo.

Something is definitely wrong with your vibrant. In my family we have three vibrants, one Evo, and one Droid x. Out of all the phones the evo is definitely the slowest. The vibrant and droid x come pretty close to each other most of the time. I can make the same video comparing the three devices with very different results from yours.

I noticed that you posted the same video in the evo section with a different title. The evo owners are proudly tearing the vibrant apart ha ha.

Went to radioshack and they tried a couple of their vibrants vs my wifes evo and an evo of someone who worked their with the same results. Once a lot of apps where been open...lag and more lag, as you can see, many users on many forums have complained. Maybe something is wrong with yours that it doesnt lag, lol. Please post link when you can.

I've had my phone for about a week now with no issues. I have no lag what so ever. I am running without a task manager and go from app to app a lot. Maybe I'm not stressing my phone enough but then again my goal is to use my phone like a sane person. I'm not trying to break my phone. This is the best android phone available in my opinion. Once 2.2 gets here it will only get better.

I had restarted the Vibrant, not the Evo. Ive done a million competitions in the last two days hoping to have the vibrant win, because i love the screen, but same results. Posted this on the Evo forum, someone suggested maybe it was a bad phone...i dont know, hopefully more comparisons show up on youtube soon.

No, it's not a bad phone. I own both the Vibrant, and the Evo, and my Evo is WAY FASTER than the Vibrant. It is such a shame too, because the Vibrant screen is beautiful, and I love almost everything else about the Vibrant, but it has some software glitches that need to be addressed in an update for sure.

Thats ridic. It is your phone or user error cause mine is extremely fast. Never lag. after watching evo vids, I'm extremely glad I got the vibrant. ui and features are way better IMO.

I am glad that you have no problems with your Vibrant, but just because you do not have those problems with your Vibrant does not give you reason to ridicule others who do, with your rudeness.
I have used many smartphones through the years, including android devices.
This ain't my first rodeo, honey.

I apologize if I came off rude honey, but the only reason I posted in that manner is because you already dismissed someone else telling you your experience is abnormal and probably something wrong with your phone. After watching the video, there is something clearly off about your particular phone.

I am not the original poster. I have not "dismissed" anyone.
What would you know of my phone from watching that video?
I guess that makes two of us whose Vibrants run slow....Hmmmm....could there be more?;)

I'm not sure if you are willing to try this but at another forum they said doing a hard reset fixed their issues.

Thanks, and I may have to try that after all is said and done. I am sure not looking forward to it though.:(

one thing i can say about the vibrant is that it is a pretty looking phone.. and everyone else wont say it.. but i will.. it looks like an iphone to me.. like a 3g/s.. but i like evo more..

I don't know just got mine today. It makes my overclocked froyo running Droid feel like a dog. I mean theirs no comparison
