if Verizon prices the G3 at $299 on contract, will people buy it?

The best IMO is the S3, since not much bigger than the G2 and has an sd slot along with the 32 :)

That is if you like extra storage space. Some could care less.

I would have agreed with you 2 years ago.....

I'm not sure how many people discussing a phone which won't be out for another month would be interested in a year old phone....

Because the year-old phone can still hold-up to phones with "better" specs and released after it. The Moto X is still a very solid device, regardless of it's age. If you are looking for a good phone, off-contract and want it at a good price then it's something to consider.

I'm done with any more contracts. Unlocked or forget about it. Your paying full price for it either way with inflated service charges.

I don't buy contract phones anymore.
I have unlimited data and I plan to keep it until they take it away.
But, I really don't think they will take it. Most people are falling off unlimited on their own.

I just upgraded to the g2 For Verizon. I wish the person would have told me the G3 is about to release! I'm so mad!
IF you got for free on contract you still have an excellent phone that will easily last the two years you need - it still beats the GS5 or M8 (IMHO). As for the G3 it may be too big for most people and there is still some question if the QHD will have a noticeable performance hit (yes it will be a little slower on benchmarks BUT will most people notice in Day to Day use).

Correct that the spec performance jump is getting shorter. The S4 is still great and a year old. Kind of like computers and laptops keeping up with apps longer now too.

Some people will, but to get $299, I think they'd have to offer the 2/16 version at $199 to imply the "value" of the added memory. Apple users seem to be content to buy the first 16GB of flash for $100, and the next 32 for another $100, as insane as that sounds. (And I've done it before; and wished I'd done it for my 5, as 16GB, after program storage and iOS is just way to tight).

I'm hoping for the 3/32 to be THE Verizon version, and for it to come in at $199 to compete with T-mo. But even at $299, I'm one of the rare lucky ones who can upgrade my device and keep my unlimited plan, so I'll take whatever subsidy they give me and consider it good.

I hate contracts so I usually buy my phones off contract which is what I plan to do with the g3 if the issues that are being discussed regarding heat, poor battery life, and lag are unfounded or corrected by the U.S. release date.

It's not that rare to be able to upgrade and keep UDP, just have to know how to do it.

Every review I have seen so far and granted I haven't seen all of them, but they all have said good battery life. And can't remember seeing anything about heat but I could have missed it.

Wait a month and they'll drop it to $100. Look at the price for the S5 and M8 right now.

$299? Please. I'm on unlimited data and I'll be paying $699+ for it, so at $299, ya. It'd sell.
