If you really like your nexus 7...

I do love my nexus. Like you though I think I was expecting for it to part the sea. :). I was thinking about that today too and for me. Its nice not having my phone which means work with me all the time.

The portability. The power in this Lil device is awesome for gaming. Something new for me to learn as well. Love gadgets so this is a great gadget for passing the time.

I've been playing games this past sale. Dang, if only I had known about the great games there is.

I use it for gaming such as bards tale and ff3. And reading. I've read 3 books off of it so far. Love it. And I use the 7 to browse the Internet a lot. My son, who is 2, uses it a lot for a learning tool. I have about 6 apps that he uses frequently that helps him with colors, letters, animals and shapes. He probably uses it more than I do.

My N7 replaced a 10.1" gTablet. The larger device was getting to be too heavy to carry around all the time. My wife has an A100, and I found the 7" size to be more ideal.

I find that I use the N7 more than I did the gTablet. Some of the things I do:

- Reading (Kindle app)
- Magazines (Zinio)
- Forums (Tapatalk)
- Google Now
- Play a few games
- Amazon Prime Videos
- Information lookup.
- Stream music (Pandora, Google Music)

I still use my computer for work. The N7 sits on my desk, streaming music, podcast, or even a movie while I concentrate on my computer work. I have enough apps open on the desktop to keep me busy with work. Having the N7 off to the side just helps offload non-essential things.

I'm just curious, I've seen a lot of people post that they love their Nexus 7. If you fall into that category, can you mention how you use your Nexus 7 and what it is you do with it that you like so much.
I'm on the road a lot and before buying my Nexus 7, my personal mobile devices were a Samsung netbook and an iPod Touch. The netbook was plenty capable for what I needed, but it wasn't convenient to carry around constantly. The Touch, on the other hand, was very pocketable but the screen had so few pixels, it lacked copy/paste, and Opera would randomly crash several times a week. Enter Nexus 7. I can easily carry it around, and the screen is actually a slightly higher resolution than my aging netbook.

I mainly use my Nexus 7 for email and internet, but I have also read e-books, played games, and listened to music. I was also pleasantly surprised how useful Google Now is for me when traveling. I should probably also mention my only smart phone is a work blackberry, so the Nexus 7 might not be so bloody useful in comparison for someone who has a modern Android smart phone. ;)

Hi,

I'm just curious, I've seen a lot of people post that they love their Nexus 7. If you fall into that category, can you mention how you use your Nexus 7 and what it is you do with it that you like so much.

I bought mine 2 weeks ago and it is mostly defect free. I'm finding that I don't use it as much as I thought I would, just for browsing and email. I had hoped to use it for more work tasks or anything more practical.

Just curious how others are using it that makes you like it so much. Thanks for any response.

I'm fascinated by how customizable this thing is. I can pretty much do anything my laptop does on the Nexus 7 and im ALWAYS finding new features and apps. It's smooth as butter and has very few drawbacks.

I'm also a productivity nerd and can't live without a calendar, To do list, and Evernote.... And the Nexus 7 excels at these things complete with amazing widgets so I don't even necessarily have to open the app like an ipad would :-)

Same here. Our 3 year old boy uses it pretty much every day for an hour or so. He's really digging the new Bad Piggies game, which actually teaches him how to engineer his Pig Transports, so I'm cool with that one. And I got the Where's My Perry game for $.25, which helps him with solving spacial puzzles. And he's got some Dr. Seuss interactive books (he has fallen in love with The Lorax book), and alphabet and number games.

I use it for reading news from Pulse, and checking twitter/facebook, email, and to watch some videos now and then. We are actually contemplating getting a second tablet...not sure which one yet, but we want a 10 inch one to more or less replace our laptop, which is quickly becoming a third option for tech, after our phones and the N7.

I switched from pulse to flipboard

My original plan was to use it mostly for eBook reading and some Angry Birds, but it is so much more:
News
Crosswords
Games
Recipes (fits in my cookbook holder behind plexiglass)
Social media
Watching video - YouTube channels like PBS and movies on Crackle
Playing with photo apps (more relaxed than sitting at a desk and firing up Photoshop or Gimp). And doodling.
GPS navigation and Local
Email
Weather - especially radar (big tower for ham antennas - we unplug at sound of thunder' but router goes off last)

My N7 has become my Ultimate Toy.

Found it to be a fast easy way to interface with my NAS Vortexbox unit to make backups etc.rather than the pc. Use the wireless app to keep my excel worksheets updated for quick reference. Yeah read magazines and check news and weather. Once in awhile watch movies Only disappointing thing is the sound (use high end earphones) and the sound is not close to my ZuneHD64 so still use the Zune for music. Like everything else about it.

I have an N7 and a iPad 3 ("new iPad"), and even though the iPad is a tablet, and very easy to hold compared to a traditional bulky laptop, it's almost cumbersome in comparison to the N7, which is so light. I find myself more prone to use it for that reason. It's a lie down, hold with one hand device, and I'm a big fan.

It's basically my laptop/iPod replacement. Really the only time I prefer my laptop over the N7 is when I have to do serious typing, or when I want to run a program like Photoshop (or when certain sites--like Hulu--don't work on mobile devices).

Commute: listen to music, read magazine apps or dl'ed articles
Home: play apps (there's an infinite amount of different apps, so there's a huge time-waster right there) , browse web, watch netflix, read news feeds, alarm in the AM
School: take notes (w/ keyboard case), research and dl articles. a rear camera would have been really useful for scanning book pages and prof lectures, but ehh.

That too--I love how I can organize my life in a coherent, streamlined way. I'm the sort of person that will forget a task within minutes, so having a task list on the homescreen is great lol. Takes like two seconds to wake the device up and click the 'new note' button on the Evernote widget.

Well being I'm on my second Nexus 7, smashed the first in an accident and had to get it replaced because once I had a tablet it was like crack, I've gotten a lot of this down pat.

At work:
- Note taking: I use Evernote and a write pad app to take notes for meetings and projects I'm involved in.
- Paperless: I create reports as part of my job and HATE having to print them out. So I print them to PDF and store them in a place for my tablet to pick them up. Then go to who I need to go to and show off the document. I then mark notes on changes.
- Podcasts: I use Pocketcasts to watch the Android Central, All About Android, and various other podcasts to keep me entertained and informed while at work.
- Music: Tunein Pro for using my tablet as a desktop radio on the non-work network wifi.to also give my ears something to listen to.
- Remote Desktop: I use this to connect to my PC at home and do the uncommon things I can't do with my tablet.

Non-Work:
- Comics: read my comics I sync from the cbr collection I have on my laptop.
- Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, Wordpress, Google+ and OF COURSE Android Central.
- Pocket: When I'm at work I'm glancing at Google Reader feeds I subscribe to, ones I don't have time to fully give attention I file away to Pocket and read them easier than I ever did with my laptop.
- Photo Management: I have instant upload managing to backup my cell photos to Picasa and I have a network share of photos on the network. I use Picfolio to organize my photos for long term storage and sharing.
- Gaming: Basically too long of a list to go through but an obvious use.
- Movies: Netflix, my ripped DVDs on my network, and Youtube viewing.
- Magazines & Books: I use Play Magazines because I don't like paper copies since I don't really do more than read an article, take notes of ones like "How to make a DVR" and then never pay attention.

There might be a few more and I'm sure others have a ton more uses.

Check if your SSN starts with c60 this was the original batch that came out and lots of folk have had them crack from getting too hot this summer, mostly from being in cars. I'll be getting mine a nice warm wrap to keep it cozy in Alberta

For me the coolest part is that I can fit my Nexus 7 in my pocket, given all that can be done with it. I've been a late adopter when it comes to tablets, as I pretty much disregarded them as a legitimate personal computing option since the Newton, PalmPilots, etc. I've even been unimpressed with smartphones until recently.

But what sold me on the idea of a tablet was my wife's Kindle Fire that she got last year with some of her money. I borrowed it a few times, taking it to work, watching videos and reading books during lunch, and it convinced me this was a legitimate option.

So I decided I would get a Nook Tablet so I could get experience with another type of tablet, so I could essentially take advantage of having 1 of each, but she got me a cheaper Nook Color off eBay, and it was registered previously, and I couldn't register it in my name, so we had it sent back for a refund. Coincidentally, I saw the ad on the Google website for the Nexus 7, so I basically did a ton of research, and based on the articles and videos, went to the closest Wal-Mart in my city (can you guess which city?! ;) ) and picked one up.

So for me I've used this mostly to watch videos, reading, and listening to music - though I've done some in-bed browsing, some tinkering with applications, and showing my friends. I'm still in the "astounded" phase of ownership, to be honest. :)
