If you're getting the 6P -- Why (or why not)?

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

I hadn't noticed that the power button is textured until just now. I really love this design. It would've been even better if the rest of the phone were filled out with more battery, but I guess it's already pushing boundaries in terms of weight.

same here. in a perfect world, I'd have trimmed down the bezel and like u said, slightly increased the width, even if it meant a heavier phone.

but the aesthetics have definitely grown on me, especially the graphite and gold (Japan only, I know).

I think a lot of the hate is from the same people that say every phone looks like the iPhone. finally an original design, and of course they continue to chirp.

I assume it's mostly the next generation, but it amazes me how many people care so much about aesthetics. nobody wants an ugly phone, but it used to be about function over form, at least for android users.

we wonder why we don't see thicker phones with bigger batteries, well, they're your reason why. what's funny is 98% of people use a case anyway, so their pretty little phone is only as nice as their ugly case.

i read through a ton of comments at AP, and a lot of people said they're getting the 5x or pure based on looks alone. I just don't comprehend that logic.

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

I'm watching this pretty closely. I have a Moto Pure incoming this week and I'm going to decide if I want to keep it or go for a nexus. I just think the big boy has PREMIUM price written all over it. I can't see this thing being a bargain what so ever and fully expect it to compete with premium phones pricing.

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

I'll get it if it has wireless charging and quick charge. I guess I can live with a smaller screen compared to the Nexus 6!
The rumored specs sound good though.
I have wanted to try a Huawei phone. The phones that they have that aren't available in the US look nice, but they don't have the US LTE radios. I'd like their P8 max, that would be my phone.
I just hope I have better luck with the 6p that I did with the Nexus 6.

I definitely care a lot about aesthetic, but I also think we can have both. This phone probably could've fit another 350mAh at least with only minimal increase in thickness/weight. At this point I'm just hoping the camera is worth the extra space it takes up.

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

Is Verizon in line to get the Nexus 6P? If so, this may very well be my first Nexus!

I'm in the same boat as you. VZW and would be my first Nexus.

The Nexus 6 supported Verizon, can't see them going backwards. I thought I heard that it would support all the major US carriers.

Probably the only thing I'm annoyed about is that the headphone jack is going to be on top. The 5X gets it on the bottom. Lucky ducks..

I don't much care about the headphone jack location, I use bluetooth for those needs. Yes I realize not everyone does.

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

I still use my headphone jack for the treadmill or bike. I don't do the Bluetooth ones.

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

Well I was wrong on price. Going to be hard to decide between this and keeping my pure assuming I ever get it in hand hahaha.

Nexus always has amazing dev support which is a huge bonus. I'm only really concerned about the camera on the P not sucking at this point.

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

I'm now up in the air... I really would like to get the LG 5X, but I'm going to wait to hear all the details tomorrow on the 6P and the 5X.

I'm on the fence too. I am also waiting to see what Motorola brings to Verizon this year.

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

If rumors pan out to be true and it has a mirco sd card .. Oh yeah I won't wait. I figure 32gb internal storage and 64 gb microsd card puts me at 83 gb . I definitely won't get another device for 3 yrs after this...

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

If the rumored $500 comes true, then yeah, probably. Nothing blows me away about this phone. There's no OEM branded enhancements to music sound, display, etc, no cool features like Spen or Active Display or things like that on nexus phones. I'll miss those kinds of things. It's still kinda weird looking too. Not gorgeous but also not cheap looking. BUT... Lollipop royally F'd up my battery life on all my devices. The sooner I get M the better. And I'm growing tired of disabling bloatware packages, apps, and services. I'm guessing the camera will be just pretty good but not near the Note 5 or the upcoming Z5 but as long as it takes low light shots I can be reasonably happy with then that's good enough for me. The only thing I'm leery of is some big hardware defect being discovered by XDA and getting early adopter burn like I have in the past with nexus and having to deal with online returns/exchanges rather than just walking into the store and saying "hey this is bad, I'm returning it" in 5 minutes. Sadly these things haven't usually been uncovered by XDA until a few months go by, so well outside the 14 day return window. I've had more quality control hardware issues from nexus historically than I have with OEM flagships. Dunno. I'll wait until the Z5 hits the shelves either way and then decide from there. Either way I'm pretty sure I don't want to pay $600-700 on contract(!!) for a 64gb iPhone 6S+

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

Set up a return on my XPE today planning on getting the 6P. I'm not having much luck with battery life. Not a fan of the moto display with lcd screen either. Just hope the speakers are as nice and the radio is at least close to motos

yeah from what I heard about the battery I wasn't very impressed. i was immediately skeptical when the Play had such a larger battery than the Pure. Moto has never been known for great battery optimization, so that combined with battery size and a 5.7" display leads me to believe the 3-4 hours SOT people are reporting are accurate.

hopefully the 3450 combined with M and no bloatware will result in solid battery performance. I expect to get though the day fairly easily, possibly using quick charge in the car before the gym on my way home if I use it excessively that day.

we'll see soon enough, can't wait!

I would love 3-4 hours I was getting 1.5

The Moto N6 was much better

One thing Samsung does right on their Note series is the battery. It helps when they hoard the best screens for themselves. Hopefully the N6P has a Note 4 generation panel

1.5? wow ... you might've had a defective battery actually. even at max brightness, or in a bad service area, or a combo of everything, that seems excessively bad.

I have high hopes for the combination of M and the 3450 but we'll see. I just grabbed to Nexus 6 a few weeks ago (personal use) and I'm getting a little over 5 hours. brightness is at 25-50%, almost always on WiFi, and I play CoC, text, stream music, watch YouTube, go online, fantasy football, etc.

The 6p will be primarily for work, so a lot more calls and emails. hope this goes smooth today.

best of luck!

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

After seeing all the leaks, I've changed my mind and will get the 6P instead of the 5X.

Originally I had thought to get the 5X as I'd like a regular sized device for one hand use, but after seeing the leaks for the 6P and the battery and all that, I'm actually more interested in the 6P now.

Hopefully Australia can also preorder right away as the US and other countries will. Google kinda screwed us over with the Nexus 6 last year despite having the Nexus 5 and 4 available here on the same day the US got it.

wise choice my friend. the 6p looks awesome. the 5x doesn't really do it for me. good luck today!

Re: Who's getting the 6p?

I'm getting solid battery life on my Nexus 6, over 5 hours SOT ... mine is less than a month old though so it's not really that fair to judge. I'll most likely replace my battery in 12 months, something I always do or pay to have done with all my phones ... money well spent IMO

and yeah, I'd be extremely disappointed if it didn't have quick charge ... I probably wouldn't have gotten it anyway, but the OP2 was an instant turnoff since it didn't have it for whatever reason

My Nexus is about a year old now and I'm now getting about 4.5 hours of SOT. That's not bad after a year , but i must admit i do yearn for more battery life.
