I picked up an eVo 3D car dock from Sprint (made by iGrip). Fits my phone with the Seidio case perfectly (there's an insert you ahve to remove. Best part, it's cheaper than the HTC version (which doesn't work with a case), and does put the evo into Car Dock Mode.

It's this one

How much was it? Best Buy had it too, but I didn't see a price listed. My wife talked me out of it today. I may have to sneak and get it. :p

No, it was the IGrip brand for the EVO 3D. They only had one left by the time I got there.

I got that same thing. I love it.

So, it doesn't come with a charger? If so, you need a really long cord to reach the left side of the windshield as suggested in their marketing. Do they make a charger cord that long?

Also, do you trust the suction on the mount? Haven't had failure?

Does the back cutout allow both camera lenses to be exposed?

I have it out underneath my rear view mirror. And i am using an att car charger, their cords are really long and springy! Havent had any failure with the suction cup yet. Knock on wood.

It was $40 at the Sprint store.
It does block one of the cameras, but seems to hold the phone well.

I'd like a cup holder mount, the suction leaves a mark on the windshield which begs crooks to break into your car because they know something valuable is inside.

Which Seidio case are you using with the iGrip mount? I have the Surface case and was wondering if my "cased" EVO 3D will fit in the iGrip mount with this case on. Please let me know. Thanks.

Mine's actually the "Platinum" case from Best Buy (rebranded Seidio). It seems like it'd fit most cases, except for the real thick ones like the Otterbox.

Anyone with an Otterbox case tried this yet? I picked up 2 phones yesterday and 2 otterbox cases. Also got a new car (ok, really old, but new to me) yesterday that doesn't have cup holders or any place to obviously put the phone while it's charging. I need a car dock.

I bought two of these igrip car docks from a local Sprint store. There is supposed to be an adjustment or tension knob on the pivot that lets the head move up or down 270deg. The knob is shown in the photos on the web site and the instructions. Mine have no knobs. The first one I tried forquite a while to figure out how to move and finally put some oomph behind it and it moved a couple of points. Difficult but it went.

The second one, I again tried to find a better way but gave up and just forced it. Head broke off in my hand and sliced my index finger open. Its going back to Sprint for replacement but the product in the box does not match the photos nor the instruction sheet.

What am I missing? There has to be a way to loosen the pivot and rotate it. The knuckle does not have sufficient range of motion on its own to properly position the phone. (the knuckle has a tension knob and works fine but only moves about 30deg.

UPDATE:

Just went to the Sprint store and was not prepared for the red tape runarround I got. Have never had an experience this bad in a Sprint store before. For nearly 40 minutes they flatly refused to do anythign about it or even discuss it being defective. A part was broke, they do not cover physical damage. Period. No discussion. Very rude clerk. Store manager was not rude but took him over 20 mintues of persistant explaination to show there was something wrong with it, indeed the one he took off the shelf was defective too. He only refunded approx half the cost and refused to order a replacement or do anything else. Just WOW. Its only $40 but jeeze if they are going to sell accessories for better than 100% markup in a retail store, they need to at least support and warranty them for initial defects. I get better after sale support from the guy in China buying direct.
