Yep...it's huge
Just walked across the street to RS. They had a dummy unit that I handled and then the mgr brought over his demo unit. They were building their display for tomorrow btw. Long story short, it's enormous. I have a Pre. I hit the link (above) a while ago and did the comparison and couldn't believe it,thus the trip to RS. Now...here are my 5 minute comparison notes:
Their unit had no 4g and I wasn't that deep into the store (Chicago, downtown, by the way). 3g was solid. The unit feels very solid yet not as "industrial/slab" as an iPhone. It's thinner than the Pre as it has no keyboard. The width is about the same. It's about an inch taller. I have medium hands and I'll tell ya, the ability to do any 1-handed work on this thing would take practice. It's ergonomics don't hold a candle to Pre (curve, size, ability to reach all the way across the screen 1-handed). I suppose that's what you give up for screen size. Made a call with it. The other person sounded ok to me. She said I sounded "hollow". Wasn't using a headset. Didn't try headset or speaker. Navigation was easy to pick up on since I've spent a year with a Pre, but overall the webOS/Palm interface is simpler and more intuitive. I don't know if you can actually minimize a "card" and open another (like webOS) or not. if not, that's one thing I'll REALLY miss as I use this feature constantly for contacts/txt/calendar purposes. The swiping, tapping, etc was intuitive.
I'm going to get one tomorrow...but keep the Pre just in case I find the Evo isn't all that and a bag of chips. I like a lot of what it does, but like the iPhone it's more i than phone. The one thing I think the Pre really had going for it (beyond the OS) was that the phone itself was freaking outstanding.
BTW, I've received all the Seidio propaganda as I've been a user (for my, my wife's and my daughter's Pre's). If their Innocases aren't any better than the ones for Pre, I'll be looking for something rubberized...like a Body Glove. Anyone have any preferences? Seido's screen protector is the absolute best I've ever used, but the cases....not so much.
Sorry for the long dissertation, but since I'd had some real, hands-on, I thought I'd offer it up.
