I'm a little worried about the size.

Cool I'm just a bit worried I'm coming from the pre and before that the razor, and thats about it.

I had a Sprint Touch and a Pre before the Evo. When I first saw the Pre I was surprised how small it was. Next to the Evo, it feels like a Fisher Price phone.

I can't resist, "that's what she said"

Someone had to say it! I think I'll get used to the size, though it's really not a great deal larger than the IPhone... and I see HUGE cases on IPhones all of the time. Since I'm going the Invisishield rout, I think the sleek sexiness will be just right in my hands.

so just try it out at the store... see if it works ok for you. if not... get a Hero or Moment or something.

We all will enjoy and appreciate the size of this phone, when its in use for video, photos, surfing, ETC. In those instances, we will love it, but when it comes time to hold it, talk on it, and put it in our pockets.... That may eventually be an issue for some.
Many years ago, at the dawn of smart phones, there was a pocket PC phone that I considered, but got the treo 300 instead. I saw this guy with the pocket PC phone at A mORTON'S restaurant. The phone looked huge, making him look like a goofy dork, lol. The EVO is not as big, so hopefully we won't adapt the goofy dork look.

I just got done playing with the dummy phone at sprint and comming from a pre its huge but man is it sexy

There's a dummy phone at your sprint? I went to a sprint store in the mall to see if they have one and heres what he said shaking his head,"THE PHONE IS NOT REALEASE YET!! IT'S RELEASE ON THE 4TH!!", and he looks at me like I'm stupid. I said, " uhh I know... I just want to see the size of it", and walk away. Never buying from them.

But the good news is i went to a radioshack (also in the same mall) and they have a dummy on display. from the front, it looks big because of its screen size, but when you look from the back it's not that big. overall though, i think its the perfect size.

i went and looked at the phone yesterday at a radio shack. i have to admit that the size was a bit concerning. i have a palm pre now and have had bigger phones. i think i will still pick up an evo friday cause i'm one of those "gotta have the newest" guys, but i think i will really miss the form factor of my pre. the evo just didnt feel comfortable in my hand, almost awkward, but i did have a radio shack guy up my ass the whole time telling me how this phone is gonna shut down apple, palm and blackberry within the first month of sales.

The "size" of the unit is not ALL that much bigger than my BlackBerry Bold, it's the fact that it's ALL SCREEN that is throwing people off. As a matter of fact, I believe it's thinner than the Bold... it's an optical illusion. Once you get past that part, you'll be fine.

this reminds me......

LOL, beat me to it. Yeah, unless you are this guy I wouldn't be too worried.

Have you actually seen and held one? I was in BB this week to get an Incredible and played with the EVO display - that thing is big and it has nothing to do with any optical illusions! I think it is going to be hard for some to get used to it. I probably could, but the Inc. feels really nice in the hand. I might get one anyway for 30 days.

I just played with the EVO today at Best Buy. A Sprint Representative was there and let me play around with her EVO. It is a big phone, but it fit into my front pocket with no problems. As long as you don't have tight jeans, you should be fine. The EVO feels very solid and fast. This time size matters in a good way.

Yep...it's huge

Just walked across the street to RS. They had a dummy unit that I handled and then the mgr brought over his demo unit. They were building their display for tomorrow btw. Long story short, it's enormous. I have a Pre. I hit the link (above) a while ago and did the comparison and couldn't believe it,thus the trip to RS. Now...here are my 5 minute comparison notes:
Their unit had no 4g and I wasn't that deep into the store (Chicago, downtown, by the way). 3g was solid. The unit feels very solid yet not as "industrial/slab" as an iPhone. It's thinner than the Pre as it has no keyboard. The width is about the same. It's about an inch taller. I have medium hands and I'll tell ya, the ability to do any 1-handed work on this thing would take practice. It's ergonomics don't hold a candle to Pre (curve, size, ability to reach all the way across the screen 1-handed). I suppose that's what you give up for screen size. Made a call with it. The other person sounded ok to me. She said I sounded "hollow". Wasn't using a headset. Didn't try headset or speaker. Navigation was easy to pick up on since I've spent a year with a Pre, but overall the webOS/Palm interface is simpler and more intuitive. I don't know if you can actually minimize a "card" and open another (like webOS) or not. if not, that's one thing I'll REALLY miss as I use this feature constantly for contacts/txt/calendar purposes. The swiping, tapping, etc was intuitive.

I'm going to get one tomorrow...but keep the Pre just in case I find the Evo isn't all that and a bag of chips. I like a lot of what it does, but like the iPhone it's more i than phone. The one thing I think the Pre really had going for it (beyond the OS) was that the phone itself was freaking outstanding.

BTW, I've received all the Seidio propaganda as I've been a user (for my, my wife's and my daughter's Pre's). If their Innocases aren't any better than the ones for Pre, I'll be looking for something rubberized...like a Body Glove. Anyone have any preferences? Seido's screen protector is the absolute best I've ever used, but the cases....not so much.

Sorry for the long dissertation, but since I'd had some real, hands-on, I thought I'd offer it up.

Yep, seen it, held it. And the HD2. Depending on what device people are using currently........ I use a BlackBerry Bold. Turn them both over face down and look, they Evo isn't THAT much bigger. Turn it back over and then turn it on and it looks HUGE.

Held a dummy unit yesterday @ the Orange, CA RS. I was actually amazed at how "not big" (if that makes sense)the phone was. Everyone says its so big, not to me. Looking forward to dumping my pre @ 9:30 am tomorrow morning, The wait is almost over!!

i'm a girl... Coming from the pre and i went to touch and rub all up on the dummy model at my local best buy the other day and it is quite bigger than the pre.

I also got my case & holster today and while it is much larger than the pre as a 5'5" woman i doubt i'll have any problems handling a phone of this size...

And before the rest of you do it....

That's what she said :p

lol awesome!
