I'm done with this thing.

The phone I had before was horrible and although the TB has issues it is far better than what I had. I love this phone. Only issue I have is the battery but I have been able to work around it. Like others I also only have a 1 yr contact knowing that I might want the next best phone and am thrilled with the unlimited data plan that came with this one. Its a win/win for me. Sorry it is not working out for everyone.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Android platform. I've got a Galaxy Tab, and couldn't be happier with it. But I can't get this Thunderbolt to operate as designed. The MTP mode just does not work reliably. Sometimes I can get it to connect to my computer with no problems. Other times, I need to swap USB ports to make it work. And then other times (assuming I've gotten it working at all) it'll just arbitrarily disconnect from the computer. Verizon spent a few hours on the phone with me trying to get it to work, and was very apologetic when they told me there was nothing else they could do, and that I should contact HTC. HTC claims that MTP mode was added by Verizon, so they weren't gonna support anything but HTC Sync or USB Mass Storage. So, it's back to the Storm until something better comes along. Hopefully, something that works. You know, I really don't know what problem people have with Big Red. They've been nothing but helpful through all of this.

what is MTP mode?

I don't use Rhapsody, but I couldn't imagine it being that important or there being no alternative method to get the same thing accomplished, that i would pass up on 4G goodness and simultaneous voice and data.

Only issues I have are the battery life and I can work around that. As for the other phones coming out in the next two months, I will never buy another Samsung device and you can keep Motoblur.

There will always be someone to complain about every single phone that comes out. If MTP is the only thing you have an issue with I would really not worry about it, IMO.

Besides isn't there a Rhapsody app?

I thought VCast ran off of Rhapsody?

No, no, here's where you're wrong - the Thunderbolt is flawed, with terrible battery life, a lousy speaker design, and people have been having numerous issues with it. When, say, the DROID Charge or Targa come out, they may be perfected by then. Early adoption is almost never a good thing. You're the guinea pigs.

Yes and when the Charge gets Sammys notorious post-release support and hacked software (has the Fascinate seen Froyo officially yet?), and the Targa is locked down tighter than a drum (has the DX bootloader been unlocked yet?), us early adopters will still have the best and the brightest devs working on the TB, along with some of the best support among manufactures (Inc is getting GB isn't it?).

All of the "issues" you are sighting are the same "issues" every phone coming out gets slammed for, look at the other forums.

BTW didn't your momma ever tell you, if you got nothing good to say say nothing at all.

Its funny people can hate all they want (most prolly dont even own a Tbolt) but the thunderbolt is a great phone, I for one dont have any problems with it, I semi wonder if people that continuously rag on phones, work for a competitive carrier or phone manufacture. Nuff' said

Terrible battery life is not really an issue anymore, and pretty much everyone can admit that it's acceptable now (relative to other smartphones), although I'll agree with anyone who says it could still get better. I haven't had a single "flaw" with my battery other than three calls taking up over 30% of my battery use. That happened once, while roaming, and has been my only battery issue.

The "lousy" speaker design is 100% subjective. I love the speaker design. When I hold the phone in my hand while watching/doing anything, the sound funnels right at me which is perfect. When it's in landscape kickstand mode I get full sound from both sides of the phone, and stand-up kickstand mode would be my only partial complaint, but I still am not willing to make a big deal out of it because the sound is great.

Droid Charge doesn't even compare to the Bolt, imo. Specs are lower, and I don't like physical buttons at all on touch screen phones.

Long story short; if the phone isn't for you, why are you coming into our territory and bashing it so hard? MOST people here love the phone, myself included, and we got it for more reasons than the LTE; Sense, the bootloader, and the HTC brand as a whole being the main ones for me. If you plan on waiting to get a new phone enjoy your extremely late updates/sloppy UI and Area 51 bootloader along with your tiered LTE data packages and forced 2-year contracts.

Hey, to each his own..... I am loving this phone and like all computerized products nowadays, it does not come free of some bugs. But still, it serves me well for my needs and purposes and I can't be happier. Of course, a few weeks down the line something will come out that will be more feature-rich but I will not be drooling over those because Thunderbolt has everything I need on a phone and nothing that has been promised on the announced future releases has anything that sounds significantly better than this one (at least for me). And I don't really care about dual-core or even quad-core..

I love my Thunderbolt. It has its major and minor issues, some I've found fixes for, others I've learned to work with.

My major issue right now (having come from a feature phone and iPod Touch combo) is lack of high quality apps for the tools I became used to on iOS. Instapaper, SimpleNote and PlainText in particular.

Yes, there is a Rhapsody app. However, you have to have connectivity to use it. Seeing as I work in a building that is RF-shielded, that isn't going to do me much good.

Yea, man. I understand. We all have our own needs. I was just being silly because my quote (which is now my sig.) is pretty accurate. It's an amazing device, but like all things has it's
ssues.
From what I've seen of the posts here it seems like the TB is following along the same lines as the Storm 1. Brand new device that needs the kinks worked out of it. But more to the point it seems like you either get a good one or you don't. Reminds of the batch thing - depends on which batch your phone comes from. I so far anyway can't complain. But then I couldn't complain about my Storm until about a year into owning it either.
