I'm happy with the phone

I just thought I would put it out there that after having the phone for a month I am happy with it.

Even the gimmicky 3D has been put to decent use.

Me too. This is such a step up from my venerable OV - I am even glad I picked the evo over the one V. Great device with awesome dev jump start thanks to already being on sprint.

I am also nothing but happy with my phone. There has been rampant reports of signal issues, which I've had a wee bit of, but that hiccup aside; the phone is awesome.

I've had mine only 3 days, and I too am happy with it. Previously had the LG Optimus V, and the HTC trumps everything about that phone. A huge step up, IMO.

I'm glad to see a thread like this. I've really been debating between this phone and the One V. One V is probably a great phone, but lacks many features that I love, and that the Evo has.

I'm still a little worried about the Radio Interface issue, but hopefully its not so bad.

this is also my first post. I began hating the moderator of the other phone board I was using.

The signal issue isn't that bad for the most part, and it's not the phones fault anyway, it's VM's.

A good work around for the issue (until VM gets their crap together) that I've found is:
Make a call. Wait for it to connect and start dialing.

Hang up.

Now you're at full signal. Seems to help me out quite a bit

For the ones who have updated from the OV to the evo v... is it worth it? I really want to upgrade, but am really skeptical about the signal issues. How bad really is it? Is it worth the money? Is it worth losing my 25$/month plan?
since I use my phone mainly for mapping and data, I need something reliable. I had the MT and hated it....too many bugs... GPS was aweful, the hardware was garbage.
Anyways.. hows the evo v? I see so many posts on the problems it has but not so much of the cool features.

i went from the OpV, to the slider, to the 3vo V. the change is leagues above any other phone. the network issues dont seem too bad for me (in the DFW texas area) at work. i get way better signal at my desk than on my couch at the house.

what happens is you signal will just drop. randomly. i will be at good 3g whilst tweeting or browsing or whatever. but my phone down, pick it back up, then ill be at 1x or no signal at all. the no sig only really happend once. it gets a little annoying, far from a deal breaker.

as far as the 25 a month plan goes. i kept my slider on that plan, signed up for a new plan at 35, and gave my previous 2nd line (metro pcs samsung admire) to my dad. two phones for less than the price of ONE on any of the bigg four? sign me up.

So the signal issue happens only in low signal areas? I'm guessing this is something to do with bad software...seems like if it was tower problems then my OV would have the same issue.
ill start saving up for it now and just grab the 55 plan.
Would everyone else agree this phone is worth it? Despite the few bugs
love my OV but it's time for a change.

I think so. I had an Optimus V and I was rather set on getting the HTC One V when I strolled in to Best Buy to look at the new phones. But then the EVO V caught my eye and I didn't care about the One V anymore.

For me, I'm getting improved signal reception, but I know your mileage will vary. The battery drains faster than the OV, but aside from that and the fact that the micro-SD card is more of a hassle to eject (remove back of camera, remove battery, eject card), I'd say I'm still happy with the purchase. I paid $286 plus tax at Wal-Mart.

As I said in my previous post, the signal will just drop randomly. Regardless of coverage in the area at the time. Its rarely seen as a true issue by me anyway.

and DG3, I got mine at wal mart as well. It took me like four or five super centers to find one that had them on the shelves. Finally went BACK to the one like literally across the street from my apt and they had a few. i think it was 310 and some change after tax?

I bought the Evo V this past Monday and am very happy I did. I had the OV on the Grandfathered plan and don't have any regrets paying 10 more a month. Even something simple like installing apps from the play store is a better experience.

I haven't experienced the signal issue myself in the St. Louis Metro Area. I am actually getting a small improvement in 3G speeds.

My wife finally decided she wanted a smart phone, so I was resetting my old OV for her last night. It was startling the difference between the two phones. The size and resolution are night and day.
