I'm not geting a message notification above my messaging icon when a new text comes in.

I have a Motorola Android 7.1.1 and I used to get a number above my text icon every time a new message came in. I no longer get that and I have tried going into settings, notifications, and app manager and haven't found anything that turns it on or off. Any advice?

Welcome to the forums. Which Moto model do you have and which launcher are you using? Those notification badges are only available on some Verizon/Droid models unless you use a custom launcher.

I have Motorola Moto Z Force Droid and am using Message+. I read some comments about Message+ not working well. Maybe I should use Message instead.

Same here, Message+ stopped showing notifications but not because of 7.1.1 because it used to work with 7.1.1 when I first got the update...stopped sometime after that....perhaps a Message+ update?

All latest updates installed including system update yesterday. Not sure when it first stopped showing notifications. I didn't notice until a few days ago.

So I'm using Action Launcher and somehow the message updates got turned off. Went into Action Launcher settings, turned it on, and all is well again. Check your launcher's settings.
