I'm on my 3rd facinate

My Fasc had Adv Task Killer Free on it when I got it. It ran fine with it, runs fine without it. Don't really see that much of a difference, RAM seems to mysteriously drop as I use the phone either way. Battery life seems comparable. But it's certainly easier not dinking with it everytime I use a few apps.

What about the Start-up killer from this review thread? Are those OK? At start-up my phone always auto-launches all sorts of crap I have no intention of ever using (VZNavigator, CityID, etc).

I don't understand why I can't delete something like CityID. I'm past the free trial period, I don't want it...ever; yet it always launches when I use the phone. I can't even 'open' it because I haven't bought it. It's just a big ram-sucking turd on my phone.

Emptycube, this is only my opinion, but I think a better route to go would be to root, and then use the safe to remove bloatware sticky to get some of that stuff off of there. That said, I've heard success stories using apps you asked about.

Thanks Cory. Being an android noob (and wasn't 100% on keeping the Fasc) I was at least going to wait until my 30-days was up, but that ends this week. Then I was hoping to wait for froyo. It's like they REALLY entice you to root by making them this way.

I'm making up a new android term: root carrot.

root carrot - an item you hate so much it entices you to root your phone just to be rid of it, even if you're the last person on earth likely to root a phone. Examples - CityID; VZNavigator.
