So i have rooting FAQ's, tips, guides and read me's open...
and i'm still pretty terrified. I've never rooted a phone so i'm a newb in that respect, but i find myself to be fairly tech savvy so i guess we'll see...
any last minute insight would be great
if not...into the breech i go.
wish me luck

So, are you rooted now? The only thing I found during the whole process is that it was convenient that I know enough Linux shell commands to get me around. There was a step or two where I explicitly needed to create a folder that didn't previously exist instead of copying a file to a new folder path.

that was my rambling from this EARLY AM, about as early as i could get and still say "tonight". Well, it's now tonight, and i'm waiting for a text convo to wind down so i can lose contact for a while during the rooting process...
so...literally this is the 11th hour folks...again, last minute input? I backed up as much as i could with a few programs, my google wouldn't sync contacts but i think i have those covered...That stuff isn't my huge concern, it's the process. Just afraid i'll do something stupid and ridiculous and turn it into something horrible...like, idk, an iphone... crickets?

Can you boot into HBoot (Power + Vol. Down) and be at the screen with the 3 skateboarding androids. Does it say S-ON or S-OFF at the top of the screen. If it says S-OFF (signature verification off), you should be able to flash the Sprint Lovers ROM by putting the PC36IMG.zip file in the root of your SD card and you should be able to flash it when you boot into HBoot.

I would also suggest that you install a custom recovery as I didn't see that step in the root guide link you posted. I prefer the Amon_RA recovery.

If you want to compare the steps to a similar root method, check the XDA link in my signature.

i think..i think...this...is...suck....no, sorry, success! of all things, i accidentally added .zip when renaming, had to take it off
