I'm so disappointed....

I do feel like HTC has been a little lazy... so they made the sides gold, so what? I get that they want to keep the overall design language the same, I mean after having two phones that were so lauded for their design it's only natural that they would want the next generation phone to at least look like it's from the same family, but they really could have done more

Just following on from this....just have a look at these renders comparing what looks to be the actual design (the one labelled "evolutionary" in the pics) to renders based on early leaks (labelled "revolutionary" even though it's really not)

Stunning Renders Compare Likely HTC One M9 Design With Earlier Leaks | Made of Tech

You would still be able to tell it's from the One family of phones (talking here about the "revolutionary" design), and it's definitely a fresher, more modern looking take on the phone that I think a lot of people would have appreciated

Ummm, no. As a company that was on the brink of bankruptcy and who has only turned a profit once in the past three years, cannot afford to make people walk away.

I upgrade every year and I will not upgrade. I think a lot of people feel the same way.

I feel your pain. A lot of us stick up for HTC. I don't expect perfection, but you are trying to feed me year old bread HTC.

Good news is at least they at least moved away from the ultra pixel tar camera. I think if they just moved the logo on top like it is on my evo 4g lte it would have at least made things a little better? Seems they just replaced the cpu and camera and called it a day. This took them a year?

Hasn't the minimal approach always been HTC's way? Instead of throwing 100s of features at you hoping that one or two catch your interest (Samsung) I thought they preferred to focus their efforts so that each new feature actually counts.

Like the EVO 3D approach?...lol That went well...never saw 3D on a phone again.

Actually, HTC has for the most part been a featureless phone. Even scaling back on some features and making Sense lighter as of late.

Now if I can only understand why HTC would want me to have different home screens for work and home. I still can't understand why my email app should be in different locations? Why my YouTube app can't be in the same location when at work and home. And what happens if I'm not home and not at work? Are my apps going to be in a different location as well? Can someone explain why we need different home screens based on location? Does anyone want such a feature?

I am sure it will be something some will love. I have different needs at home than I do at work so it may be something I will use. I would think such a feature could be turned off if not needed.

Let's all admit that we like it when people ask, "Wow, what kind of phone is that?" Happened with my Moto360 and I love hearing it with a new phone. If you get the M9 people will ask you,"Isn't that the same phone you had from last year?" Why did you buy the exact same phone?...LOL

Well on the other side of the coin I have an M7 that I love. This is my second HTC phone. First was a Hero. I like the looks of my M7. And I like the screen size too. The only thing I do not like about it is the camera. Will I upgrade to an M9? No. Not unless my M7 breaks for some reason and I have to. I don't like Lollipop and I have what to me (except for the camera) is a perfect phone. I do not need to buy a new phone every time one comes out. I am very happy with my M7 as well as Kit Kat.

Go to the 33:00 minute mark to hear them talk about the HTC One M9. I think it was summed up nicely that maybe HTC is a year behind of where they need to be in regard to flagship phones. Very good discussion.

I usually update thy the latest HTC flagship every year (on my sixth one) . this year I'm going to look elsewhere. So disappointed in the lates design, it's just not a big enough if a design change for me So it's either the S6 or the Z4 when it arrives. They're all similar enough in specs now, also they are all running closer to vanilla late.
I like that the S6 will also have wireless charging.I just hope the tone down touchwiz as suggested in leaks so far

Yeah...they pretty much hit the nail on the head, the improvements to the M9 could have been implemented in the M8 and taken a chunk out of the struggling S5 market share. Pretty much universal opinion (with the exception of a minority of people) that a re-hash of the older design is a failure.

I often wonder if manufacturers have a team of "feet on the street" types that identify trends and actually talk to the public to determine their next direction. It's called market research, and if it's done in an insular manner it's ineffective and you get something like the M9.

doubt it, they just go with what worked with past releases. i knew the m9 wouldn't be a huge upgrade from the m8. just more ram and a better processor that so far seems to cause alot of low benchmarks and lag.

They make the same points we have been - not excited about it or the S6 unless HTC has a trick up their sleeve.

When is the G4 rumoured to be announced/released roughly? It would be nice to have a backup phone to look forward to if HTC shoots themselves in the foot and Samsung fail to impress.
