I'm sorry but 1 year later, the Pixel 2 still has an awful voicemail system

I'm on Verizon and I see it the same way, bottom right.

My Pixel 2 XL is also on Verizon, but my Phone app only shows three buttons at the bottom -- Favorites, Recents, and Contacts; it does not include a fourth button for Voicemail. There is a Voicemail entry in my Contacts list, and the "1" button on the dial pad has the Voicemail icon below it. Of course, anytime I get a voicemail message, it shows up in the Recents list and can be accessed with a simple tap. But I'm puzzled as to why the buttons on the bottom on my phone don't include the Voicemail option, if in fact that's a common feature of Verizon devices like mine. Does it have anything to do with the Visual Voicemail option, which I have turned off?

My Pixel 2's voicemail setup from my stock dialer is working well. I don't use it very often but I haven't had any issues of yet. Hope yours get resolved soon!

I have tmobile no issues, maybe try looking into settings of the phone app and see anything needs to be checked.

Also not sure if this would also affect anything but if you have Verizon's voicemail app, it might also remove the voicemail option from bottom right of the dialer app so you would need to go into there app to get your voicemails.

What's the Verizon voicemail app called? I deleted it almost immediately.

Go to the phone settings and then voice mail, make sure visual voicemail is tuned on.

You have to use the Google phone app. I have no problem reading my voice mails or listening to them. With Android 9 it is even easier to change contact information.

This is by far one of the worst features, and its something I complained about late last year after the pixel 2/xl came out.

1.Why the hell do I still have to type in a password to check my voicemail every time and why can't it be accessed via another Tab on the phone app next to Favorites, Recents, Contacts? I'm aware that some people don't have to type in passwords, and I don't understand why they were able to(like my mom's for instance).

This doesn't even account for the part that I had to repeatly come to an at&t store to set you up my voicemail box.. I did get my phone from Verizon, but it shouldn't have been difficult.

2. Why the hell can I not even see the number/who called my voice mail box and have to rely on their voices to hear who called me?

Just simple features like easy voice mail set up, accessibility, and #identification .. are features the iPhone 6 and even my old Nokia lumia 1020 have.

Please don't mention Google voice. Hasn't helped one bit installing it and having the annoyance of having a second number and random people calling me and having it routed to my my origit phone number.

Google is hardware only, voice mail is tied to your service provider...

TMO and pie even better now as I get a text print out of each voice mail!

Dont have to do anything other then say OK Google call voice mail or dial 123

So, I had voicemail(I use Google Voice) stop on my Pixel 2 XL today( It worked fine yesterday) I had read this thread when it came out so knew it was an issue....The Phone App lost its voice mail tab or I should say everything stopped working in the Google voice app...Spent an hour in a chat with Google, we both thought after going through all their steps, it was carrier(At&t related)....

No it wasn't At&t for me and I do not know for sure but Google looks like they have a New Voice out (The tab is on the web interface to try it out) I think maybe that caused the issue...

Anyway I did tell the Google rep that I would try to reset Google voice after I hung up with them.

I went in to the web interface and set up Google Voice again...It was already set up and I could see my visual mail. I went through the steps anyway and the last one has you go to your phone and type in the forwarding # for your voicemail...That got it working again after following the last steps that appear...Typing in the forwarding number on the phone may have been the only step needed ...not sure...and it still may have been knocked out by something At&t did...not sure

Hope this may help anyone who loses their Google Visual Voice on At&t...
