After I received a text message from Lindsay(a close friend), I am unable to do anything quires the phone's keypad. It said something like "Add Event". This friend uses apps that tie in to a scheduling app also ones that interact with Amazon Alexa. I mention those because it give an idea that he's using what many would consider "cutting edge."
I stress that I've texted with Lindsay many time in the past with no problem. I'll call him tomorrow and we will probably be able to figure out what's going on. I'm posting here because the message said he will be out of the State tomorrow for a relative's birthday. I don't want to do anything to interfere with that. I'm mentioning all this about Lindsay to assure you that he would never do anything like this intentionally.
I didn't get screenshots but here's what I now see when I open something that would need me to enter text.
Do you think that the problem would be fixed if I update the phone's OS? I don't even know if that's possible
