Import (Chinese/Focalprice) Android tablets..... any use?

Anyone here using the stuff from FocalPrice, Dealextreme, or similar sites? I am NOT a heavy-duty tablet user, but the freebie Uniden tablet (1.0ghz single core) is horrifically slow when using Kindle or Kingsoft Office (even using Link2SD to keep the tablet's memory clean..... it helps, but not huge).

I don't do any heavy gaming or anything-- mostly E-reader apps and Kingsoft Office type apps.

For example, here are two 7" tablets I've considered. For $60-90, they seem like a reasonable product... but coming in from China without reputable name behind them does kinda worry me.

ICOO D70PROII 7" Android 4.1.1 Dual Core RK3066 1.6GHz Tablet PC with Wi-Fi, HDMI, External 3G, Automatic Screenshot, Capacitive Touch (8GB) | CE0182X

GD IPPO Y88 7" Android 4.1.1 Dual Core IMAPX820 1.5GHz Tablet PC with External 3G, HDMI & Capacitive Touch (4GB) (White) | CE0402W

Anyone know if these come already rooted? The Uniden I have came already rooted, right out of the box.

Thanks!
Matt

RK3066 tablets are easy to root if it's not pre rooted and are generally reasonably capable pieces of hardware, if sometimes let down by buggy official firmware/ROM. Check to see if anyone is modding for the device.

One thing that does strike me is the battery capacity looks too low to support a decent use time for the screen resolution. I've got a couple of 7inch RK3066 Sumvision Voyager Tablets Sumvision Cyclone Voyager Tablet PC - Tablets | Ebuyer.com, 3200mA battery, 800x480 resolution, which give a nice 4 to 5 hours of screen on time on a charge. I doubt that the ICOO will give you even 3 hours with more pixels and a smaller battery.

Is there a way to mod it to run the tablet on a bigger battery? I don't mind having it a touch bulkier than normal, and I'm handy with a soldering iron. I might be able to retro in something of a higher capacity, like an 18500 Li-ion or two.
