Impossible or Just Difficult to Backup?

Hi,

As you know the Samsung Galaxy Nexus doesn't have an SDCARD.

No SDCARD means I can't take it out and back it up, I used to use a batch file running "RoboCopy.exe" to periodically make a dated backup. You can't (safely) use Windows 7 Explorer as the nexus doesn't always show a complete list, it fails when the screen turns off and who can trust Windows Explorer to copy in any case?

I am using Cheetah Sync (and manually making a dated copy) at the moment but that is slow and less than ideal. I also don't like how "Cheetah Sync" works.

I could use an FTP server on the GNEX, in which case how can I automate the PC send into a batch file, basically I want command line access to perform the copy. Is there a Windows FTP client that can copy a whole directory tree at once - with or without compare/sync (preferably by command line)?

I've heard of WevDav but haven't (yet) looked into what that means and what Windows clients there are. I have tried to find backup programs that support MTP devices without luck and I've looked at "ptpdrive" but thats pretty average and limited.

Cloud sync is a possibility but would use a lot of data unless there was a WIFI only option.

What are others doing? Thanks for any suggestions.

Looks like impossible with MTP, no matter what the people who say "easy as USB MS" claim.

I'm now using "http://www.appbrain.com/app/syncme-wireless/com.bv.wifisync" (ignoring the USB and using WIFI).

have you looked at the app MyBackup Pro?

Best Android Backup

Thanks, that sounds like it should work, I was really looking for a two way automated sync with backup being a primary but not only reason, ideally done from the PC end.

At the moment I'll stick with what I have which is:

(1) Copy SDCARD to PC (using WIFI SYNC)
(2) Backup PC to:
(a) External Hard Disk
(b) Cloud
