In "girl terms", explain to my mom why Android is better than an iPhone

Don't feed the trolls guys ...

A troll because I listen to both sides? Yeah right. They're just cell phones ppl. It's not that serious. I'm just stating facts about the iPhone. I like both it's just I like iPhone more. You go to an iPhone site and state the pluses about Andriod and I get the same response. It's not really that serious to me. Both plateforms are great but neither just kicks the other butt.

I would agree with tewest.
The iPhone is a great phone. It's just not a great phone for everyone, no more than an Android is a great phone for everyone.

We don't all drive the same cars/trucks/bikes, do we? This is an Android site...so of course we're a little biased and I admit to lobbing a few shots over the fence to the fruity folks.

But, they have a quality device, it works, it's sleek and sexy and the battery is pretty darned good.
The camera is better...and the screen is better as well. It has it's pluses for sure.

Honestly, I liked the Samsung Charge more than the iPhone except for little things that I couldn't change. For example, when receiving a large SMS, the charge wouldn't show all of it in conversation view. It would have a "show more" button in order to get to the rest of the text. It's no big deal but it added one more step than say a TB or iPhone had to read messages over I think 160 characters. The thing that bothers me about the TB is the recent call/phonebook that shows once you hit the phone button. That was so confusing trying to use at just a glance. As far as battery life, I think I get pretty good. I turn off wifi when not in use and if I'm using wifi I turn off 4g. It's a few steps to turn off 4g but I do it constantly throughout the day. My screen is set to automatic and I never have BT on. I usually don't need a charge until headed home after a 9 hr work day in an office. I'm usually surfing the net, using tapatalk, or just reading articles. My first TB had speaker phone issues so I exchanged it.

I stopped by a VZW store this afternoon, had to get a generic car dock....so I looked at the Charge.
It's ok.
I can say I only played with the phone for about 2 minutes on my way out.
I do like my TBolt form factor.

However....that AMOLED screen is sexy. I wonder, long term, how the battery will fare on it.

The charge is a very nice device but I really like my Tbolt. I've always been a loyal follower of HTC. After 2 Motorola's... I wont buy another. The display is very crisp, but I'm not a fan of the buttons on the charge.

No you're a Troll because of your half accurate/inaccurate "facts" as well as your low post count.

I wasn't going to do this but:

I have a TB, IPhone 4, and a Charge. A lot of these comments are from Android fanboys.

So you start by calling is names (not a good way to start).

The TB camera is nowhere near the iPhone. It's been proven on YouTube numerous times.

Subjective opinions nothing more.

The TB screen is bigger but I found that the iPhone is just right.

Personal preference

The 4g was nice on the TB so I give it that.

Why thank you? How generous? iPhone wont be getting that (according to the latest leaks in the tech blogs) till iPhone 6

I don't even need to mention maps on Android. It's waaaayyyy better.

Yes it is but you do realize they get their info from the same source (Google) and just each have their own app to display it.

It's tries that Android has more free apps but those free apps aren't anything to write home about. How many voice recorders do you need.

iOS has just as many crap apps as Android does if not more....

The iPhone apps I found to be better. They just work and have better graphics.

your own subjective opinion but at least you labeled it as such.

No battery pulls on iPhone because of a terrible app.

Because it is physically IMPOSSIBLE to do on an iPhone. If it were I am sure the people who fled Blackberry for iPhone would be doing it. When I used it regularly I had to reboot the phone numerous times because it locked up.

Also, the iPhone looks better. No plastic on the iPhone.

Your opinion.

Also, FB is so much better on iPhone. Have you ppl even used it? I have both.

A year ago I would have agreed with you but now they are basically neck and neck. Some bugs left in the push notifications and chat on the Android app and after that they will be basically equal. (Yes I have both too, but my iPhone I only use over WiFi now)

I do like the customizations on Andriod. However, a jailbroken iPhone can do more. And jailbreaking is so easy. You download a program and in 5 mins you're jailbroken.

Depending on the phone Rooting is just as easy. The TBolt IS hared than most of course but then I ask why should we have to jailbreak/root our devices. What exactly can an jailbroken iPhone do that an Android device (rooted or not) do?

I have the exact same notifications on my iPhone as I have on my TB.

FALSE! And it seriously makes me wonder if you have ever even used an Android phone when you say things like that. iOS does not even have a unified notification system. you get pop-ups and little numbers at the corner of app icons wen you get a notification. People complain about Blackberry but even they have a real notification system.

It all comes down to this, the iPhone just works.

Wow did Uncle Steve teach you that?

It's been out almost a yr and I haven't used a phone that compares with it. You get what u pay for. The customer service with Apple is great. Anything happens to you iPhone beside you abusing it, and you can just go to Apple and 9/10 times they will swap you out a new one right then. You can got to Htc and Verizon makes you ship it off. I'm just being honest.

That only works if you are lucky to live close to an Apple store. The rest of the time the phone must also be shipped. Verizon does not make you send the broken phone in BEFORE sending the replacement like Apple does. They send the new one and you have I believe 5 working days to ship the defective one back in the same box with the provided lable. Do you know how many people I have sold Go phones (ATT Prepaid) to who had no intention in the service they just needed a cheap phone while they waited for Apple to receive their phone fix it and send it back?

Simple:

The iPhone is like having one really nice outfit to wear. Sleek, modern and sexy, but you only get one look.

Android is like having a walk-in closet full of nice stuff to wear. You can mix and match for any occasion.

She'll understand that!

This thread needs to stay on topic. The OP asked for ways to explain to non technical people why Android is better than iOS. How this thread got to the point of Android vs iOS is beyond me.

So back to why Android is better than iOS. If all you're going to say is that iOS is better then please leave the thread. We have other threads in other sections where you can argue about that.
