My buddy works at Verizon and said they had a meeting about the phone w/no bloatware on it. He said they will be getting the nexus the week of thanksgiving. I don't think they would have a sales metting if it was only gona b sold on the net.

Yup one of my friends works at a corp store in Boston and just told me the same thing tonight.He gave me information that resembles what you just mentioned. He did mention that they said it would be available AROUND thanksgiving though. I am hoping that it is the week OF thanksgiving like your buddy told you. I don't think it's going to be sold only online either. This is the 4th time I have heard of someone knowing a person who works at a VZW store having a meeting about the Nexus this week. The Samsung reps must be making their rounds this week to show VZW reps the device and school them on it. Not to mention we have seen training documents on it also. Even if it did launch online at first then in stores later I really don't care. Just give me the device BEFORE Black Friday and I swear I will be the most happy person I can possibly be LOL.

FWIW, I am a regular guy and a contractor and was doing work in a building with a large Verizon Wireless presence. I was talking to some folks as part of my normal job. I ran into two different sales executives. They were going out of their minds getting ready for tomorrow release of the Razr. They asked me if I was going to get one. I told them no, that I was holding out for the GN. They looked at me like they were the pope and I had pooped in St. Peter's Basillica. They were tight lipped about the GN and both got dowdy looks on their faces when I mentioned it. I don't know what that means. However I'm going back on site tomorrow and Monday and will try to see if I can use my charms to weasel some more information. Don't hold your breath but it can't hurt to try.

I for one am hoping for a BBY release. Their service plans are amazing. I had to replace my OG Droid like 6 times for various reasons and they replaced it each time with no cost and now they do it within 3-5 business days. Protect your Galaxy Nexus the right way! And no, I don't work for BBY. I just prefer their service plans and financing to other stores.

Even though I'm getting a Nexus, I stopped by the local VZW Corporate Store to take a look at the RAZR. I asked the salesmen about the Nexus and he said it was really nice. I asked about a release date and he said he didn't know yet, but they did bring demos in to show the employees and when that happens that usually means very soon. Who knows.

Nada. They only had a skeleton crew today because A) it is Veterans day and a bunch of folks took the day off and B) Most of the sales staff had gone to stores for the Razr launch. I'll try again on Monday.

So ondering online is a non issue for me too.

If I'm adding a line to get the upgrade and pay the additional ten dollars a month after activating the nexus on my current line and putting a dumb phone on the new line, could I do this all on online? When they send the nexus the sim will be linked to the new line, so I'll probably have to go into the verizon store before I can transfer it to my current line correct?

With 4g phones the number is linked to the sim card. You have to activate the phone on the new number first before you can transfer it to your original phone number. I think you might need a new sim card or maybe you can just take out the sim from your thunderbolt and use that.

I am so kicking myself in the butt after reading these last posts.

Yesterday I stopped by my local Verizon Store. I know the manager there and we have been talking about the GN. I even forwarded him the email conformation I received after I signed up with Verizon to get more info about the GN. In my mail I suggested he get is butt in gear so that I can get this phone.

Anyway I stopped in the see the Razr and he mentioned that that was not the phone I was interested in and that he would make sure I was first in line to get one when they came in.

I mentioned that I have never had any other non moto phone and some folks were concerned about the build, then I asked to hold his phone again(he has a Samsung Droid charge). He couldn't find it for a bit walked to the back and reached for it off of a shelf then handed it to me. I held it and remarked about how much it looked like the GN and that the feel was Ok so there won't be any problem for me.


Today I am thinking about his and I realize that the phone he handed me had a completely smooth black face with no buttons and it was rounded. If IRC the charge has physical buttons at the bottom right? Is there any other phone that does not show any buttons if it is off? I could just kick myself in the butt for not trying to turn the thing on.

Yes the charge has buttons on the bottom and is shaped oddly that you would know it is a charge. The nexus s would be the only other phone that looks similar, if it was at a verizon store most likely it was the gn and you didnt even know it. shame on you lol.

Wouldn't be anything new for them to have a test unit before actual launch. Has happened many times before. Plus the manager probably made it seem like a charge and knew the person wouldn't think any different.
