Incoming texts delayed

Anyone else having this issue? After someone asked me why I didn't respond to their texts I opened the app and there were a ton of unread messages going back 2 days. At the suggestion of someone on another site I uninstalled all updates of Carrier Services. My wife just sent a text. No notification but when I opened the app it was there.

Update: Somehow notifications had been turned off. However, I was in the app earlier today to send a text and none of the missed were there at the time.

Could it be due to the AT&T disruption earlier today due to that explosion in Nashville?

I'm on Google Fi, and it happened once a week ago or so.

Google had some general service disruptions in the past couple of weeks, so I wonder if it was related to that?
