Inconsistent notification tones

Driving me insane but sometimes when I get notifications I hear the notification tone, sometimes I don't. My notification volume is always on and very high. Anybody encountered the same issue - is there a fix for it?

Android 10.0 OS

Welcome to Android Central! Does it depend on the time of day? If it's mostly in the evening when you don't hear the notifications, then make sure Do Not Disturb isn't scheduled to go on at a certain time.
