Incorrect timestamps on some text messages

I've had my Shift for about a week, and I've noticed that sometimes (but not always) the timestamps are incorrect on the text messages that I receive from several of my contacts. For example, I received one today at around 4:00 PM, and the timestamp showed 10:46 PM. But then I got another text message a few minutes later from the same person which showed the correct time. But then, the messages were out of order because of the incorrect timestamp. Very annoying. I've never noticed the clock being off on my phone, so I'm not sure what's going on. Has anyone else seen this?

I get something similar, but not nearly as drastic. When having a back and forth conversation, I sometimes get messages out of order. They will have a time stamp that is a couple minutes in the past. I think that may just have to deal with how android retrieves SMS messages.

Might be related, might not be. Did you have service at the time the message says it was sent?

This is related to Switch timing and there is nothing you can do about it. Sprint is aware of the issue and attempting to resolve.

The Evo timestamps outgoing texts, the switch timestamps incoming texts.

Grandebob: I did have service at the time of my example, however, it was not a strong signal. Hovering around 1 bar. But I've seen this happen with full signal.

TheEngineer: When you refer to "Switch timing" are you talking about a network switch on the Sprint network? I take it you work for Sprint?

So if this is a "switch" issue with Sprint and not a device issue, why did it never happen with my Palm Pre?

This is the case with HTC smartphones on Sprint. If you are roaming, your text messages will be timestamped incorrectly. Ifyou turned off the roaming, the issue will go away. The only bad thing is that you will not get any service at that point that you are out of the coverage area.
