Increase your sd card read speed

I used xda member brainmaster's cache tweak to more than double my read speed on my class 4 Kingston. I went from 10.6 mbs @128k to 25.3 mbs @ 2048k. This was on cm7rc4, so ymmv. Still, give it a try, it's nice and simple to do!

I saw this over on XDA a few days ago and planned to look through it when I had free time. I just edited the file via Root Explorer to see what improvements I could see and am I amazed. I'll be going through the script or flashing the file when I get some time at home. Thanks for the heads up

Just an update. Although I did see increases I'm starting to doubt if they are actual or placebo. I say this only because there is a big debate going on in the thread regarding actual benefits to this mod. Since I don't know anything about the inner workings and what goes on behind the scenes to increase speed I'm unable to make heads or tails of it.

I'll just say that I seem to have noticed a difference and anyone interested in this should read up on the thread and read through page 38-ish and on.

Did you test your speeds with sd tools? That is what I used to test mine. Truthfully, I rebooted shortly after doing the changes and reset everything, so if there is an actual difference, it isn't as noticable on my device.

No, I didn't test it. I'm going to stay away from it for now. There are some conficting reports in the thread and since I an not educated to swing my opinion I'll just stay away from it until it's something that is confirmed to work and be stable - a few people have indicated corrupted sd cards as a result.

Yeah, the only noticable improvement on speed I really saw was loading the 3d gallery. As I use quickpic, it's a moot point for me.

quickpic far exceeds any gallery I've used for the Hero, imo.
