Ted, the reason why your baseband is EC05 is because that isn't the what the ROM is itself, that's the modem version you have. I'd say you should update to the newer, Gingerbread modems because most people have been getting better reception/data speeds.

I am flashing back to EG22, is there a ROM to flash the baseband to the best version?

You can use any of the Gingerbread modems. You have to flash them in Odin. Go to xda-developers.com and it should be on the front page, near the top of the list in the 'Epic 4g android development' page. Most people have been saying EG22 and EH06 have been working out the best for them but your mileage may vary so if you have a chance, try them all and see which one is the best for you.

can I Odin even if I am rooted with CWM?

Yes all you do is download the modem tar. Open Odin and place the modem tar in the PHONE slot, check reboot ONLY and press start.. Take about a minute to flash the modem.

It will not interfere with you current setup, only changes the modem (radio).

Did you install an odexed or deodexed EG22 ROM? I don't know why this would be but I thought the odexed EG22 was much quicker than the deodexed versions.

I have found the EC05 and EG22 modems work best on my phone.

flashed EH17 odexed so far no issues that anyone has been speaking about. the only issue i have is with wifi tether works once then errors i have to reboot phone then it will work again. so far it is running better than EH06 i had reboots, bt issues, and poor battery with EH06

Think its still to early to tell. Hopefully issues like the random reboot (memory leak) and other remaining bugs in EH06 will be addressed.

Im still getting random reboots. Especially during the night time hours and afternoon hours, but i have noticed better GPS and battery life for me seems to be better.

I have done almost all the Gingerbread leaks from samfirmware.com which are EF02 (a week), EG22 (had for almost a month), EH06 (a day), and currently on EH17(had since Aug 30)

I liked EF02 and never really had problems except for a couple of random reboots

I really disliked EG22 probably because I was on it for a month and GPS didnt even work. I did not want to upgrade to EH06 sine I read bad reviews about it

After a month with the frustrating EG22, I upgraded to EH06 and hated it right away. Had 5 reboots in the first hour and GPS said I was living in Michigan when I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Also 3G and 4G didnt even bother working in my area.

Upgraded to EH17 on Wednesday and so far not too many complaints. Battery (to me) seems better and the GPS is actually working for me (FINALLY!!!!) I only had 2 random reboots today from 2pm to 3pm. Not sure why. I like this build so far. Only complaint is that my Google voice settings are a little off.

Hopefully EI05 (I believe) will be a better build. Random reboots make me want to throw my Epic at an innocent bystander.

I'm currently on EH06 and haven't had any real issues besides random reboots, but one thing has been bugging me: the GPS radio stops responding after a while, and can't be disabled via software; it will only respond after a hard reboot. In fact, in EG22 I could soft-reboot the phone and GPS would come back. With EH06 I have to pull the battery because the phone never fully shuts down, even after leaving it alone in shutdown mode for several minutes.

Does EH17 fix the GPS crash? Has anybody been able to use the GPS for more than a minute or two without it freezing?

At least for me, the GPS freezes as you've described on EH17 as well -- I didn't try EH06 so I can't say if it is the same. Other than the GPS issues, I haven't had any random reboots (yet...).

I'm usually quick to upgrade to the next leak, but after reading all these reviews, I'm kind of afraid of this one. I'm currently on EH06 and have experienced awful battery life, GPS freezes after a few minutes, and my tether connection seems to need rebooted frequently. I may go ahead and load this up tomorrow (or when I have time), but if it doesn't work, it's probably going to be back to rooted Froyo for me. Any and all feedback posted by people who've already made the plunge is greatly appreciated!

I haven't ran this leak because I switched devices right at leak time but from what I've read it isn't much better than EH06. If your not too pleased with EH06 I wouldn't really waste my time jumping on this leak build either. Your best option may be to return to Froyo for a more dependable experience until official GB is release or at least a more solid leak.

Just my thoughts after reading things around the forums and from my time spent here watching the threads at AC.

I like it a lot. haven't really had too many probs, have had to reboot a couple times in the past week, but other than that, everything has been pretty peachy, knock on wood. I will be happy when the official release comes out, though. Can't wait to see the lovely roms and themes that will come out from that

Still running EH17 but the reboots are getting worse and worse. The next leak can't come soon enough (or better yet Samsung/Sprint and actual official release).
