[Index] Froyo EB13 ROM's, Kernels, Themes, & Other Mods [Updated 3/22]

Aha! See, and here I was thinking you were slacking... tsk, tsk. My apologies sir! ;)

Oh no.. Trust me when Baked Snack is released publicly you will all be provided with a link in this section along with a individual thread as always. Baked Snack rocked the Eclair OS back a few months ago and still continues to this day. So far from my use of Baked Snack on Froyo EB13 it is a very stable ROM and should once again take a top seat in the ROM arena once its made public.

even better than you ACE paul?

I'm thinking (and Paul will probably agree) that it's better in the fact that he (paul) won't have to pull double-duty by troubleshooting for the inept (like me) on that ROM...

Still lovin' ACE! I finally was able to go overnight without charging on it. Granted, it was over the weekend with light use and most of the time the screen was off, but still, that's quite a feat!

Oh I don't mind wherever I place in the lists of ROMS. I just enjoy bringing you a simple but quality ROM.

i am enjoying the fact that ACE is simple and efficient. you have any updates in mind for the next version down the road?

Just weighing my options... Waiting to see what new developments arise like everyone else. Right now were in the middle of a holding pattern it seems on new development.

I would like to add the auto backup and restore function that Bonsai brought us and ROM like TrulyEpic Rebirth, midNIGHT and others have used successfully. I'm also waiting to see what the next release of kernels brings us. Whatever other goodies come our way..

Update:

Two new themes added, Red Star and Black Alien Void. Both tested and verified to work on Syndicate/Bonsai ROMs.

I'm planning on updating to EB13 and flashing the Camera fix all in Odin today when I get off work.

I am goin to follow the instructions for the EB13 update step by step.

Was wondering though, are there any other special boxes I need to tick (untick) for the Camera fix kernel flash in Odin (other PDA and Auto Re-boot of course)?

Right now Im running ACE Rom with the Bonsai kernel v 3.0.0. I see you have Bonsai's ROM listed, but I dont see the Bonsai kernel listed in the kernel section. Perhaps you could add it to the list?

Ive been pretty busy lately and forgot to take note of where I downloaded the kernel from (it was either XDA, here at Android Central, or at Bonsai's homepage if they have one); im trying to find it now so you can add it..

Paul,

Any chance you could explain this one for the rest of us. I have read through the XDA post and the partitioning of the SD card makes me very nervous. Also as far as I can tell the only benefit of that partitioning is the A2SD feature built into this kernel. Also from what I've read, the A2SD feature is much more robust than the A2SD apps/Froyo A2SD in the market. Can you explain what the difference is in this A2SD(that requires partitioning) and the normal feature that is included in froyo?

Okay I did do some researching on this and also if you goto the source thread you will see I had some words with the dev on this kernel. I respect his work, don't get me wrong.. I know nothing about cooking kernels, so anyone who does has my nod of approval.

He just recently after myself and others complained about not being able to flash the kernel successfully released a new version without "apps2sd" built into the kernel which was giving us trouble. There is more information about this in the thread over there.

If you do choose to flash this kernel, grab the version that has the apps2sd removed. It will make flashing easier. Otherwise there is a series of steps to take to flash the kernel.

Second, make note if the ROM your running doesn't have "root" built into the ROM you will loose root access making you rerun OneClickRoot to reestablish root ability. ACE doesn't have it built in and some others ROMs don't so this is a trial and error thing with different ROMs. You will know if the ROM your running has root by attempting to run an app that requires root access.

Otherwise after all these "hoops" I had to jump threw just to get it flashed and then to find out I lost root, I immediately flashed back to Twilight Zone v1.0.1 which I have been running because its very comparable to Genocide v03a but, Twilight has the keyboard lag fix included so thats the deal breaker for me right there...

These are just my observations, you may like what the kernel has to offer and not mind possibly having to re establishing root access. I will also state the OP on the kernel at the dev's thread does state its in a "testing" phase so things may change as time goes by and he already did make 3 revisions to the kernel today alone.

I'll just stay away from this for a while, the perks just don't seem to out weight the trouble.

It looks like the EC05 kernels are coming out now. There is a new Genocide 0.5 for EC05 on posting 907 of the Genocide thread at XDA.

I guess it means we will be seeing an EC05 index soon? This had been a great source of info for me prior to this week!
