Individual contact notifications

On my Galaxy Note 3 before the lollipop update on the stock messaging app I could set text notifications for each of my contacts. Now I can't seem to do so or just can't find how to do so now since the update. The contacts that I had set before still have their individual notifications and they still work. So what am I missing? How do I make new contacts have their own text notifications now?

If you go into Contacts, find the one in question you want a custom SMS tone for, down at the bottom it says "Ringtone" - thats for phone calls, below that, is ADD ANOTHER FIELD, click that, scroll to the bottom of that list, and Message Tone needs a check (and vibration pattern if you want a custom one of those too). Then OK. Now back on the contact itself, after ringtone, you'll see Message Tone Default (and Vibration pattern Default). Click that and choose your custom tone.
