So, I use my POP3 account in Gmail.

Can I (and how) do I set that up in the watch so I can read my e-mails and reply to e-mails?

You don't need to setup anything on the watch side. With Gmail, the notification on the watch will let you reply. You can also use the Samsung's native Email app to setup POP3 email and the Email app on the watch can be used to reply. Either way, it is mostly on phone side.

Of course. Applications are a lost cause as most devs won't bother develop apps for this watch. What Samsung did was to enable you reply to notifications for certain applications on the phone.

So, I seem to be able to reply to the Gmail notifications, but when I open my e-mail app in the watch, there's nothing in there.

Am I doing something wrong on the phone to get it to send over?

Email app contains only emails (notifications) on the native Email app on the phone. Gmail is a separate app. I guess you have never bothered to setup the Email app on your phone. So naturally, it will be empty. Using the email app, you will also be able to create new emails.

So, on the watch, I can read my Gmail e-mails, but if I want to reply, I have to do it through the e-mail app on the phone (populated by the native e-mail app on my phone)?

Didn't we already established that you can reply to Gmail notifications? Email app has nothing to do with it. Email app on the watch connects to the Email app on your phone. Whether or not you use Email app on your phone is up to you.

There is an app on your phone literally called 'Email' (it is on every Samsung android phones). It's the name of the app, not necessary your email. If you setup this app to access your email instead of Gmail app, you can use your watch's Email app to read, reply or create emails. If you don't use the Email app, forget it ever existed.

Right, but I wanna use Gmail on my phone and be able to reply on the watch. How do you reply to Gmail e-mails on the watch?

When you received a email, Gmail app will send notification to your watch. You can read the notification and choose to reply it via watch. No apps involved on the watch.

Does the notification have to remain on (in the notification bar) in order to receive them on the watch?

There is a notifications settings on the Gear Manager app on your phone. Make sure you have it checked to receive notifications for GMail app. Also, some other settings may affect how notifications are send or not send. The default, IIRC, is not to send notifications if you are actively use your phone.

Lastly, make sure Gmail notification is on (show up on notification bar). Also, in order to be able to reply, you can not use your phone to dismiss the notification or read the email on the phone. If you do that, you can not reply on the watch (your only option on the watch will be dismiss).

This is where the stock Email app has the advantage over the Gmail app because you have a Email watch app that stores all pass email notifications and you can pick one out, reply at any time.

I think I understand, now.

So, I can read the e-mails (Gmail) on the watch, only if I don't remove the notification on my phone or read the e-mail (in Gmail) on the phone?

If I wanna use the stock E-Mail app on my phone, do the notifications have to be turned on (on the phone)?

Also, on a side note, I set up my POP3 e-mail on my phone, messages load in, however, it's not allowing me to properly send e-mails out...?

1. You can read GMail anytime but you can only reply if you haven't read or dismissed on the phone.
2. Yes, you must turn on notification on email app.
3. That's why no one should use POP3 emails these days. To reply, the email app must use a SMTP server to send out any mails. The problem is SMTP servers are always tightly controlled to avoid being abused. So it is extremely difficult to setup a SMTP server on the phone that works in different situations, e.g. on cell data or on home WiFi or on publish WiFi. Instead, you should check (1) whether your ISP actually supports IMAP4 protocol in addition to POP3. Many actually do. Or (2) config GMail.com to fetch the POP3 email for you instead of setup POP3 account on yourv phone.

Thank you.

You are wise.

Yes, I have my POP3 e-mail in Gmail - I didn't know I couldn't reply if they were manipulated on the phone.

Now, I just need to be able to reply to my Verizon Messages+ messages on the watch and I am set.

Can you please assist?

That's not completely true as I can reply to my emails from the watch using GNE app that unfortunately is not anymore available in the store... That is a great app for notifications...

Sorry, don't have experience with that. The app needs to support such feature via notifications. Not all of them do. Why don't you just use the Samsung Message app on the phone instead? Like emails, this Samsung app works well with Message app on the watch.
