Initial Impressions of the NEW LG Urbane 2nd Ed LTE on ATT

How is the battery life when using GPS and Bluetooth? Thinking of on runs. Could it last 3:30 or no shot? Thanks for the input.

I've tracked runs for the last 4 months and I believe it would last 3:30. I am always paired to my phone through cell data, streaming music through BT headphones and I leave the screen in 'always on' mode using Endomondo or Ghostracer. It varies but 25% an hour is probably my average. Of course cell reception and GPS signal can have an effect. If the watch is struggling to find either the battery will drop faster. My cell connection always shows H (HSPA) and never LTE regardless of location so I changed my preferred network to 3G in the settings. Not sure if LTE has a positive/negative effect on the battery.

Easily, without cellular on. I've been running daily with mine since November.

Unlike mdw1995's, my battery lasts considerably less time with cellular on, GPS tracking on and listening to music over BT - I think I get from 100 to 40% in around an hour, but I run on trails with bad cell reception. On vacation in Europe I remember the battery lasted me longer with cellular on, so it may be either my US sim or my area here that's the issue (I use Truphone and have the watch set on preferred network speed 3G as well).

However, with cellular off, GPS tracking on and listening to music over BT - I lose around 17% per hour... 20% on a bad day. It would easily track 4 hours or more, and again, that's on trails with spotty GPS reception. I imagine on roads it would be even better.

I've run with this watch on longer trails where my previous watch, the Gear S, died on me mid-way, with battery life for the rest of the day to spare. My Urbane also locks on to satellites faster than my Gear S and my Suunto Ambit 3, much much faster depending on the area. On one particular trail, the Suunto didn't manage to lock on to the signal at all, and on the same trail my Gear S used to take up to 20 mins - and the Urbane did it in maybe 2-3 minutes (always turn Wear GPS on first and let it search for satellites).

It's an amazing running watch. I love it!

Thanks for the replies. How do you feel GPS accuracy is vs your Suunto? I may get one today.

Anybody using this with a Samsung device?

I'm using it with an S7 Edge. No issues with compatibility, if that's what you're wondering.

I love mine. Have had the original since November.

I only hope that we can find a way to change the default apps top and lower buttons open!

Got mine yesterday. Really like it so far. Want to figure out a couple of things but love the functionality. Does anyone know if you can make Google Fit the primary health app on some of the watch faces instead of LG Health?

No, they are not configurable. Just pick the faces that use Google Fit. They are a few.

Sorry I missed your earlier question, but glad you got one. Have you tried to track a run with GPS yet? I only found that if you have very small wrists, GPS is much more accurate when worn over a sleeve or wristband/wrist wallet.

xendula, Do you have any idea why it works better this way? I have big wrists, wonder if I need to wear it over my sleeves?

Extra spacing from your wrist might help the antenna get signal.

Agree with scaots, I think bending the antenna too much affects its strength. Also, I start up Wear GPS first and in areas with bad GPS reception take off the watch and hold it by the BUCKLE until I see the satellites pop up on the screen, and only then do start my tracking app (Endomondo in my case). This makes me think that having the band touch skin or anything may also affect at least initial GPS lock, and again, that's only the case in very vey bad areas, where even my phone has trouble locking on to a signal.

xendula, thanks so much. I appreciate the tip on wear gps. Will try it next time I go out.

You're welcome, let me know if it made a difference. In case you miss it, you can swipe left twice in Wear GPS to see all the satellites and their signal strength.

I haven't tried a GPS yet. Weather and work have kept me on the treadmill. I should get out one one this weekend. I will be running with my Garmin and will compare the two. I will let people know how they compare.

Awesome, could you post your results in the GPS tracking thread? It's a bit further down and was started back in November.
