Injunction granted against the Galaxy Nexus

The definition of a patent is that you were the first and created the idea, thus, you have patented it to protect it. In essence, they are claiming they invented it

The sad part is the patent office has been granting patents where there is obviously prior art that should have invalidated the application. There's a specific patent office in TX where people file all sorts of crap because they're known to rubber stamp stuff :-P

I know this because I was involved in a RIM case w/ a patent troll that did this...

Yet another broken government system that Congress needs to fix. The American people are feeling the results of not paying attention to the issues. The citizens need to demand an intelligent congressional response.

This is no intermittent windshield wiper story, this is legal abuse of the patent system that stifles productivity and innovation for everyone but lawyers.

Funny part is Siri was in no way developed by Apple. Siri inc. made it, was in the midst of developing for Android/bb/wp and Apple bought out Siri and ended development for other platforms. I don't think they should be able to sue for something they had no part in patenting. Same goes for the retina display. LG developed that for Apple. They don't do anything themselves. They are parasites with no innovation. They spend all their money to buy other peoples ideas in desperation to TRY and stay ahead.. Which hasn't ever been the case

Gotta love the American judiciary system -- everyone agrees it's the best that money can buy.

No. Not at all. Just stating that other phones have had this capability long before Siri. Apple claims to have invented everything as it pertains to a smartphone. When this is most certainly not the case.

Just wait until Apple releases a 7 inch iPad....then files 80 billion patents, then sues Asus for making a 7 inch tablet.

I hate to say it this way....but Apple needs a good gang-banging from Moto, MS, and the GOOG.

Not sure why people are calling this a Siri patent when it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Siri. It was filed for spotlight search back in 2004.

I would agree, but you can't forget if that was true all the Motorola patents Google now owns fall under the same circumstances.

So do HTC's LTE Patents that they are trying to use to get an injunction against the IPhone 5.
