What do you think ? I love it

With a ping that high I doubt the server is giving correct speeds..
Try differnt servers as I have had speed tests give me 10MBs+ download and up to 7MBs upload before..

Now If the ping was at 5ms our less I could see this being true..
In your case it's not~

Not to mention Wichita Kansas is further than 50 miles from SW Florida..

I'm getting similar speeds now. Don't know VM upgraded towers or what, but I'm loving it.

I have a feeling some of this is hoopla and false readings. The op said he was in SW Florida and if you look at the screenshot it says the server was in Wichita Kansas 50 miles away. That is a big time bug.

I wish they would upgrade coverage. 10miles from me is 3G access/coverage. Sadly, I only get 2G. Just out of range.

I tested it again this morning and it was even faster.. it was at 2400 kbps. Ping in the 200's . It cant be a bug because I get super high speeds like that around here ALL THE TIME. I'm very happy

Virgin Mobile's server is in Wichita, Kansas. All our data traffic is routed through there. That is where the 50 distance is coming from.

If that were true, ping times would always be lowest to Wichita, KS regardless of where you are.

In actuality, ping times correlate correctly to distance from where I'm located.

The previous version of Speedtest would oftentimes base location off of the IP address origination and would then incorrectly locate you as being in Wichita, KS. That has not happened to me with the latest version of Speedtest.net - it gets location right using GPS.

I've noticed that my speeds have gone back to normal (1-1.2 mbits/sec down, .5-.7 up) lately. It was around half for a while.

Really?

I call bull****.
When I tested today It was using the server in Springfield MO, which is roughly 45 miles from me.
If the OP is really getting those kind of results then more power to him. I jut dont believe its correct seeing as how its saying he is 50 miles from the server. When in reality he is half way across the country from Wichita. Tethering my laptop to my phone I get a faster result then I get from the phone. Connecting to a static server each time. So these speed tests cant be 100% every time. Hell I get a crazy result connecting the itouch via wifi to my phone so I dont trust any results.

I agree 100%, i also question anyone claiming to get 2.0 MBPS on every test.but this is the internet BS does occur.

Just cruising the threads. I have AT&T and am looking at getting the thunderbolt. The thread title lured me in but I can pick up over 2mbps on my jailbroken iPhone all the time. That's with a solid 2 bars. I really am not fond if AT&T service but I guess they do have the fastest 3g on the market?
