Install Android on 3rd Generation Kindle Fire HDX?

Hi there, I’m new to these forums, but I was wondering if someone here could help me out. I’d like to convert my Kindle into an Android tablet, so are there any good, specific instructions on how to root and install Android on a 3rd generation Kindle Fire HDX running Fire OS 4.5.5.3? Also, just to let you know, 4.5.5.3 seems to be the highest version of Fire OS that I can update to. Can someone help me out, if doing this is even possible? Any replies would be helpful. Thanks!

UPDATE: I just now tried rooting my Kindle by using a tool called KingRoot, if anybody here is familiar with that app. Every time I try to actually root my device, it always says that it failed to root and then restarts the device.
