Install apk onto Moto G first generation using apk file

Hi Belodion,
Well, my Moto G is older than yours, mine has no slot for SD cards, only one for a SIM card. I believe this is the first year they made the Moto G line, and that the next year it had an SD slot.
But, I like your idea about rooting it. I have done it on another phone, a long time ago, and 'may' give it a try on this one. I suspect the XDA forum would have a detailed procedure on how to do this
Thanks again for you help.

My apologies to you and everyone in this thread. I’ve suddenly remembered that mine was a first-generation Moto E. I was wrong by two letters of the alphabet. 😞

How are you looking for the apk files on the phone itself? I know you said you tried going to the downloads folder, but what app are you using to browse? It almost sounds like you are using the gallery app (or whatever its equivalent is called on your phone), which would show media files but not data files like an apk.

If you have a web browser on it, you can see if you can access the downloads folder on it, which may show you the apk's. This is standard on browsers today, but I can't remember if it was when your phone was developed. I'm honestly surprised it doesn't have any sort of stock rudimentary file explorer app.
