Hi Guys,

Inspire is my first android phone. for installing non market apps, do i need to just install AC Sideload Wonder Machine? Please advise. Thanks,

What IS rooting?

I'm new to Android, and I was a pretty passive (if peeved) user of HTC Tilt for years, so I've never jimmied much with a phone's brains before. What is this "rooting"? I used the instructions & installer posted on AC (thanks Skroll!) to strong-arm the thing into installing Swype--is that rooting?

And as a side question, why can't I download whatever app I want, anyway? If I wanted a phone to nanny me, I'd've gone with an iPhone. I love my Inspire for its beautiful, huge, crisp, vivid screen, but that BigBrother BS really hacks me off.

is there any guide to how install the side load ? i can't get it to work with my inspire and windows 7.

gotta love AT&T for this crap! Personally, I use this Android Market called AndroidPIT App Center, but you would need to root your phone to be able to get it. You're really missing out.

Read my post about unknown sources. It can be done without side loading or rooting.
