Installing apps and games on nook help needed

Yep Im a newbie...Call me rookie with my nookie..sounds almost dirty...

Ok...well....now I have honeycomb installed on my sd card and have the marketplace installed on the os. I have downloaded some appz and games from a website and they are .apk files. How do I make em show up and work on the android? I think I have to push em with adb but will they automatically be installed. Isnt there a easier way to move these files and install them? I saw somewhere where someone said go into the market and install this app and it will help you install external apps and games...whats that program called?

Once apk is on your computer, you can email them to ourself using gm. Use the gm app to view the email, click on the attachment and hit install.

adb install programname.apk
