@BillK - So last evening when I was just surfing on my Dx, I noticed an odd red dot that just stayed on my screen and wouldnt move when I scrolled up/down or left/right. I quickly Googled "red dot on Droid X" and found a forum of "dead pixels". I read further. Turns out this is a developing issue on a few Dx units. One person said he noticed one dot then two or three more the next day. Not chancing it, I took my own Dx to my local corporate vzw and the nice manager said, "yep, you've got a dead pixel situation" at which time I also told him about the earpiece issue that has been present since I got the unit two weeks ago today.
He said (and I quote), "take the device back to where you got it and have them swap it out". I told him my 30 days were up as I signed the contract July 13. He said (and I quote), "doesn't matter, you got your device two weeks ago so you are within your thirty days of getting the device". I thanked him and went home.
I took my Dx to the store (authorized dealer) from which I initially bought it and explained the situation to that manage and he said (and I quote), "you're wrong and he's wrong - you can't swap anymore because you are beyond your thirty days". Well, Mr. Manager why don't you call the corporate store's manager and tell him he's wrong.
It turns out that authorized dealers don't play by the rules of corporate vzw. Shame on them. So the AD Manager said all I could do was do a warranty swap. Fine. I had him call vzw and had him explain why he wasnt going to swap my phone out for me.
Flash forward fifteen minutes later, the Tech Support agent said the earpiece noise and dead pixel are known issues and a new Dx would be sent to me to be swapped out.
Suck it authorized dealers.
P.S. - check for dead pixels (red non-moving dots on your screen)
