Interesting Interactions with VZW

I never had issues with replacement phones. I replace phones for the littlest dumbest stuff. I scratch my screen? Call Vzw and make up a bogus story for a new phone. Phone looking old from wear and tear? Destroy the OS so it doesn't boot, take it into the store and get it replaced. Only thing I hate is that the nearest VZW store to me is in Center City and there's always like 4 people ahead of me and 1 agent working.

And keep us posted.

Good luck!

Well 2 more sets of calls later (like a total of 8 now) I've still not received a call back from any of the VZW reps that promised me calls back (4 total).

My last call yesterday at 4:30pm ended with me telling the csr that I've set up a dispute with my CC company and unless this is resolved by the time the paperwork they need me to fill out arrives via snail mail that I will be completing it and sending it back to them and they can fight it out with Visa.

I'm all done making calls to VZW and attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I've had some problems with the Verizon's CS to get myself a replacement phone. What I learned is that if you get someone that seems like they don't know what they are doing, just hang up and call again. After talking to a lot of ppl, I finally got a man that said he will Overnight me the X instead of a refurbished original Droid.

I've been with VZW for a while and love it and would never go to AT&T. A lot of my friends always complain they can't make a call without dropping it or they are always looking for service. I live near Hartford, CT.

@BillK - So last evening when I was just surfing on my Dx, I noticed an odd red dot that just stayed on my screen and wouldnt move when I scrolled up/down or left/right. I quickly Googled "red dot on Droid X" and found a forum of "dead pixels". I read further. Turns out this is a developing issue on a few Dx units. One person said he noticed one dot then two or three more the next day. Not chancing it, I took my own Dx to my local corporate vzw and the nice manager said, "yep, you've got a dead pixel situation" at which time I also told him about the earpiece issue that has been present since I got the unit two weeks ago today.

He said (and I quote), "take the device back to where you got it and have them swap it out". I told him my 30 days were up as I signed the contract July 13. He said (and I quote), "doesn't matter, you got your device two weeks ago so you are within your thirty days of getting the device". I thanked him and went home.

I took my Dx to the store (authorized dealer) from which I initially bought it and explained the situation to that manage and he said (and I quote), "you're wrong and he's wrong - you can't swap anymore because you are beyond your thirty days". Well, Mr. Manager why don't you call the corporate store's manager and tell him he's wrong.

It turns out that authorized dealers don't play by the rules of corporate vzw. Shame on them. So the AD Manager said all I could do was do a warranty swap. Fine. I had him call vzw and had him explain why he wasnt going to swap my phone out for me.

Flash forward fifteen minutes later, the Tech Support agent said the earpiece noise and dead pixel are known issues and a new Dx would be sent to me to be swapped out.

Suck it authorized dealers.

P.S. - check for dead pixels (red non-moving dots on your screen)

Thanks - I'm fairly certain it'll be taken care of now that the CEO's office is involved. ;)

I feel like VZW has spread their network thinner. At home, ATT 3G got me 465 Kbps, VZW gets me 240 something.

CS wants me to do a factory reset and then call back. Are the Apps I've purchased tied to my Gmail or this device? I'd hate to have to re-purchase my paid apps.

I noticed you said you will have to pay for a app twice, why would you have to do this? All you have to do is log into Google and then go to market and all apps you bought should show you purchase them and all you need to do is click them and they will reinstall without charging you again.
