I'm most looking forward to the GN coming out because as of right now I'm getting a free Droid Bionic (not as nice but still LTE). Although I'd love to win a free GN. Either way, I need a "new" phone so I can give my Inc2 to my sister-in-law because her Blackberry Curve 8330 is dying.

1. Bought 2 original iphones for $1200. Decided to leave that platform when ios4 absolutely bricked my iphone 3.
2. I use xda and rootzwiki,
3. Light user of the forum, but I follow the boys on g+ and I'm a chat room monkey during the podcast (which I listen to the next DAY).
4. I use an HTC Incredible which runs CM7 nightlies.

Former OS/Device:

?Blackberry - I have one for work but hate it. The device itself is just ok but the way the IT folks have locked the thing down renders it pretty much useless. No GPS, bluetooth, internet or camera on my 9650. I can see some emails but not if they are encrypted. Good stuff.

?HTC ERIS - This was my starter Android device. I was happy with it stock for about 2 months and then I got the rooting/romming bug. There was a Dev from XDA, punk.Kaos, who did great things for that phone. This is where I got my first taste of CM and their work. I kept it for almost a year enjoying, and donating to, the fruits of his work.

?HTC Incredible - Moved from the Eris to the Inc and rooted it immediately flashing CM all the while. I played with a few other ROM's for a day at a time but always came back to CM due its speed, stability and vanilla look. I run ADW EX for a launcher and keep it pretty clean.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

Hey Cory,
I've been a member of AC since I defected from the Crackberry forums when I got the OG Incredible. I was one of the lucky ones who got my Incredible a week early, so I was posting alot to an eager audience. Coming from a Storm, the Dinc was quite an exhilarating device. The AC forums were rockin with findings, photos, and how-tos.
I've told so many people about these forums it isn't funny. They're the go-to place for Android info. I learned so much here. I rooted both my Dinc and Dinc2 and now am the guy all my friends call when they have questions about their Android phones.
I'll be in line this morning when my Verizon store opens at 9. I'm sure I'll be back here soon after and for weeks to come to share in the Nexus joy.
Have a great holiday and have fun with your new toy!
Roger

Hello everybody.
Just got to work after leaving the Verizon store.

Love the Nexus so far.

My device line is Droid Inc -> Droid X -> Galaxy Nexus.

I am a heavy user. Use phone for work and play.
I read the forums almost daily. Always checking the news feed.
Will miss the X forums and the ongoing battle to crack the bootloader. Don't have to worry about that anymore.. :D

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

The short version is that I love reading bio's and learning little more about our members. It's always something I've enjoyed.

When the Galaxy Nexus is finally released, I will randomly pick 3 members and send out a free Galaxy Nexus case (once available in the AC store).

Special consideration will be given to those who regularly participate in the forums and stay away from personal attacks and trolling.

There will be no bias toward those who do not answer each of the questions, or the way in which they are answered.

Pics of your current phone would be cool too!

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

I upgraded from a decrepit flip phone to a Galaxy Nexus today. I'm a huge computer geek, but I held off a long time on getting a smartphone because I have no cell service at my house. I live in a rural area that was only wired for broadband internet a year ago (and don't even get me started on that!). There is only enough cell signal at my house to receive a text if you are lucky. To send a text, I have to stand outside on the porch, and it usually takes several tries. Voice calls on the cell are just not possible. I have to turn off my cellphone when I'm at home; otherwise it just drains the battery trying to find a signal. So for years it seemed like a waste to get a smartphone, especially because I'm rarely out of arm's reach of a computer at work. But I finally reached the point where the dumb phone just wasn't cutting it anymore when I am out and about, away from home and office. Plus, I teach mathematics at a university, and was getting sick of seeing all the students with their iPhones, and there I was still walking around with a flip phone!

So last winter I started reading up on phones to figure out what to get. I heard all the hype about the Bionic at CES in January, and waited for it all summer. But by the time it came out, it sounded pretty disappointing, and by then the Galaxy Nexus (still called the Nexus Prime) was said to be right around the corner. So I gave the Bionic a pass, and have been obsessively following Android Central, Phandroid, and Droid-Life for any and all information about the Galaxy Nexus. The last few weeks have been excruciating.

So there you have it. I went directly from a flip phone to the GNex, and was at the local VZW store (local to where I work, that is, not where I live) an hour after they opened this morning. There were a few people ahead of me, so I hung out with a couple of other people (total strangers) and we checked out the demo unit together until salespeople could get to each of us. Geek bonding :-).

I'm hoping the GNex will have a sufficiently better antenna than my old flip phone that I might be able to use it at home, at least a little, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll try it when I get home tonight, though.

I'd include a picture of my shiny new Galaxy Nexus, but I'm proctoring a final exam right now. Better not!

I am the forum reader that should not be. I am saturated with the curse of ADD so I skim through the posts that I think look cool and then try to do them on my phone. The problem is, I am NOT a technical person. Fortunately, all of you are and, for the most part, do a great job of explaining things to my level. So maybe I am not the reader that should not be, but rather a student to the rest of your knowledge so thanks for sharing. Ooooh, look, something shiny.....

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

Hello! Glad to be here.

I just picked up a brand new Galaxy Nexus this morning and its completely awesome! Especially since I'm coming from and old Blackberry phone. I've been waiting for a great Android phone and it's finally here.

Re: Introduce Yourselves (oh and there's a contest in here as wel

Tod K - Was using a HTC Incredible (great phone) but wanted ICS and LTE. I have been watching these forums for my DInc for a while. Love to look for new ideas, new apps, and problems / fixes that others are running into.

I'm a forum addict pre & post release.

Bought the first android phone available to the masses; the G1.

And have been heavily involved in phone development.

If I received the Galaxy Nexus, I would put my master's degree in English to work. Starting by writing reviews for everything imaginable.
