invalid battery

[AC Question]

i have a LG phone. i charged it and it says invalid battery then shuts my phone down. i tried different battery and different charger. i took it back where i got it, they say its the phone. is there a way i can fix it? how can i get the invalid battery message off my phone. i dont have the money to buy a new one again..

MY LG Stylo 2 shows invalid battery message and shuts down if it has been charged above 70%. It stays normal as long as the battery charging level is below 70%. Such a loser phone Stylo 2! one of the worst issues i've encountered in phones over the course of changing 100+ phone models. Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 are top 2 phones for a super-user as of yet.

I even replaced the old chinese battery with an original LG 3000mah battery but the issue still persists.

Take out your battery and look at the metal pins inside your phone where the battery "connects". There should be 4 gold pins. Take a toothpick or a needle and very gently get behind each pin and lift it out a bit. They bend easily. Be careful and GENTLE. You just want them bulging out a bit so that when you put the battery in, all 4 pins are touching the battery. You should be golden after this.

Invalid battery??!!!??? .

I have a LG phones and I dropped it, it only fell a short distance, landing on a soft surface and when I picked it up it had turned off. When I turned it back on it was only on for a minute and then it gave me a message that the battery was invalid and then it shut down. When I went to turn it back on it showed a picture of two batteries and one had a red line through it and the other showed a LG battery. I tried all of the suggestions posted on this page and the only thing that worked was the post made by Glynn_1974 dun. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH, IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM AND YOU SAVED ME FROM HAVING TO GET A NEW BATTERY OR PHONE!!!!:

I see a whole string of remedies but here's what worked for my LG lgl21g phone showing invalid battery. I removed battery for 24 hours- no luck. Left battery out, removed SIM card. Waited short moment. Replaced SIM then battery. Been good now for days.... We'll see.....

hello please don't reset the phone if the battery is dead just charge it externally the plug it back in the phone if it still has power just plug it back in the phone
then be as fast as possible
go to settings
then storage
then cache data
as it still calculating tap on
then clear cache yes

Here is what I just did and it worked. Powered up, went to general settings and backed up all data to SD card. phone stopped shutting off and taking a charge.

Clearing the cache doesn't require an app. Settings/General/Storage/Cache. Wait for Cache to finish calculating before pressing it. Press it and you'll be given the choice of clearing the cache or canceling. Why anyone would write an app to clear cache is beyond me (unless it's to extract money from noobs). You could always clear cache from recovery if you wanted to bother restarting twice.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you getting an Invalid Battery message as well, or is the phone just shutting down? If it's just shutting down, then the battery might simply be failing.

I have an LG K7. That same image popped up for me, I have tried everything so far and nothing works, not even the “safe boot”, because it does absolutely nothing when I plug in and hold down the power & down volume buttons. How much does a new LG battery cost?

I think this is a LG strategy to push you into buying new products from them. This is an outrageous behaviour. As a consumer, I feel swindled. Also, because I am completely dependent on the smartphone for work and relations, I am ready to spend money and they know it. They just need to create an update with this bug and you can throw your hardware down the flush. Consume, produce, die.

I sincerely doubt it. LG just makes poor products due to bad QA/QC programs. If you heavily rely on your phone for work, the best solution is simply a better phone but even better phones can have issues.

Unfortunately that hypothesis doesn't hold water and planned obsolescence is nothing new. I have owned quite a few smart devices and have not had any fail on me. In fact I have Motorola, and LG phones that are 3 to 7 years old that still work. The only obsolescence within normal boundaries is certain models no longer get updates. If certain brands developed a scheme to induce a high failure rate then people would gravitate towards the better brands. LG isn't exactly gaining any new ground based on their reliability record so if it's a conspiracy, it's a failed one. There is one known case of Apple deliberately slowing down older phones to conserve battery life and there was speculation that it was done to convince people to buy new phones, but that is not the norm.

This worked for me. Cleaned the battery contacts with a Q-tip and alcohol (very very small amount)
Allow to dry a few minutes.
Cleared Cache under Settings - Storage - Free Up Space
Also, Settings - Battery - TURN OFF the BATTERY SAVER.
My phone is working fine now.

I had a simlilar situation, a small drop and suddenly the "invalid battery" message and the LG V20 auto shutting down.
Adjusting the battery connector prongs unfortunately did not work for me. I found another solution, though.
I have a Shenmz battery. My old battery, the original LG battery that came with the phone did not give the error message and allowed the phone to work. I noticed that the Shenmz battery, while thicker, is a bit shorter than the LG battery, and so did not push against the battery contacts as tightly as the LG battery.
So, I wedged a bit of folded paper at the bottom of the Shenmz battery to make the contact between the Shenmz battery and the phone's battery contacts as snug as possible. The error is now gone and the phone stays on with the Shenmz battery.
