Stop it. Get out of this thread if you are gonna just bash Apple.

I'm sorry he didn't bash Apple. He presented facts if the facts paint Apple in a worse light then maybe Apple isn't as golden as it seems.

They should really just remove alternative to Android section from here. Silly me expecting logical arguments.

Arguments for what? The thread is asking for our thoughts on iOS8. We are doing exactly what the thread asked.

This is an Android forum...of course Android will come up in context to a thread like this. If all you want is Apple cheerleading, Apple Insider's forums would love to have you.

Hell no. Apple insider makes me sick with their bias. But the fact you think iOS 8 copied Android is wrong. They did copy a few things but nowhere all of them.

I don't think he said all of them?......

I am curious what exactly apple copied?

Quick reply? Nexus 5 ships with Hangouts for messaging and has no quick reply.

Continuity? Nexus 5 needs third party app to do that.

Widgets? Guilty.

Ability to use third party keyboard? Guilty.

I'm not trying to be a wise cracker, I'm seriously trying to see what everyone is saying was copied, factory vs factory, no adding third party apps.

A lot if that stuff has been in desktops way before Android or iOS. If anything, iOS copied OSX or Windows.

Yes. And the only thing I see copied is "actionable notifications" in notification center. On my G2,the only actionable notification I really get is Gmail.
As I stated, Googles own messaging app doesn't have a quick reply, so you can't say apple copied it.
Oh and the hands free activation of Siri. Can that be considered a stock android feature, since it's not available on all phones?

What else was copied? Again, not trying to be a jerk , I'm just trying to figure it out and compare stock os to stock os.

They are gonna say there are rumours of always listening in the next Nexus LOL!

I don't expect objectivity from these guys.

You say this...

Hell no. Apple insider makes me sick with their bias. But the fact you think iOS 8 copied Android is wrong.
Then follow with this?

They did copy a few things

Apple did copy everything...they just did not copy it all from Android. They copied some of it from other companies. I can't think of a single feature the iPhone has that actually originated from Apple. Can you name a feature that originated with the iPhone?

And the only reason anyone even brings this up is because Apple themselves makes SUCH a big deal about copying. Thats why we call them hypocritical. They are not in a position to complain about copying when they themselves do it more than anyone else.

Typing Suggestions
Voice hotword (OK Google/Hey Siri)
3rd party keyboard integration
Widgets (still a lot more limited on iOS)
Actionable notifications (and not just limited to gmail or other Google apps)

This site goes into detail on these:
5 Android features you're about to get on your iPhone: the iOS 8 features Apple stole from Android - PC Advisor

Here are some from iOS7:

Control center
Lock Screen
Live wallpaper (however limited on iOS)
Multitasking preview
Auto-updates
Browser tabs
Multitasking

Apple Copied Android In iOS 7 - Business Insider

I'd add application interoperability to that (allowing apps to exchange information with each other directly). And that is just features...if you want to talk about design, it could be argued that they stole flat UI elements as well.

The "omg that doesn't come stock" argument holds no water IMO, since Android has 3rd party app integration...those apps can be integrated into the OS as if they are native. So anyone can have them. Maps and Gmail are good examples.

Multitasking is actually WebOS. In fact Android also copied WebOS with the multitasking preview.
Lock screen? Nope. Control centre ok... Auto updates. How is that a feature specific to Android? Browser tabs, again what?

Live wallpapers? Boy you are getting desperate. How is that Android specific?

And yes it does. If my phone doesn't have it stock then it's not part off the phone.

Continuity is something that Android doesn't do and never will be able to do. Handoffs again, who is doing that? Third party keyboards isn't a feature.

Now. Apple has stopped dating that completely. They don't call anything innovative if you bothered to listen to wwdc. They don't say innovative once. They don't say the copycat stuff any more either are you gonna hold something that Steve said 3 years ago even though he is gone?

Multitasking is actually WebOS.
So instead of copying android, Apple copied WebOS. Ok.

Lock screen? Nope.
LOL

So is Apple.

Third party keyboards isn't a feature.
Why?

...now that THEY are the ones doing it. LOL

Apparently you agree with Apple that copying is only wring when other companies besides Apple do it.
