iPad 2 shames xoom in graphics

What I want to really know is WHY does the ipad2 crush the xoom on graphics? Something doesnt seem right with those tests especially when the Gtab is almost even with the ipad2. It's almost like the benchmark is only using half the xoom or the immature honeycomb software is to blame. I think Google/Moto need to respond to this situation. They are selling this thing for almost double what an ipad2 costs and it cant even compete on graphics?? Very sad if it is true.
I am still getting a xoom wifi when released as I dont care about gaming.

First off, we now know Xoom wifi is $599, so cost is similar.

They are different generation products. The Tegra2 was available about 6-12 months ago, but most phone hardware companies were new to working with Nvidia and Android 3.0 wasn't available. Apple can develop the chip and iPad simultaneously since they are doing the whole project. So as soon as the A5 was ready, they could release a product based on work already done from generation 1 iPad.

Also, iOS is more mature having the same 1 generation lead. Android 3.0 is still "new" and we don't really know how well optimized it is.

Regardless, that's why Nvidia is working to get Tegra3 out this year. It puts them ahead of the other Android-ARM hardware makers and will get them even or largely past iPad 2. Once Android tablet makers get experience with Tegra2 devices, they should be able to launch Tegra3 devices much quicker.

Personally I'm waiting on Tegra3 devices to check them out even though $599 wifi is semi tempting. Watching flash video on my Atrix while iPad users can't is what would keep me with a Xoom or similar device.

YouTube - Motorola Xoom vs Apple iPad 2 Comparison

Watch this comparison vid, when they play the game samurai vengeance 2, the Ipad lags alot

That link didn't work for me, but this one should be ok: YouTube - Motorola Xoom vs Apple iPad 2 Comparison (for starting at the game comparison)

The iPad appears to be way more laggy with it's rendering and processing powering compared to the Xoom. It is def. noticeable.

I can't believe they don't have tabbed browsing either?!? How is that!

Papa Steve says consumers can't handle tabbed browsing! :) lol

CNET recently tested the Xoom against the iPad and iPad2 to check site loading speed. The results are below.

It's being found now that the iPad 2 was tested using GLBenchmark 1.1, whereas the Xoom was tested using an unoptimized version of GLBenchmark 2.0 for single-core hardware.

Hence, the Xoom was never given a fair chance to begin with. If this is true, then this is really shameful and shows just how far Apple fans will go to discredit the competition. Sad, really... :( I'm just waiting for when GLBenchmark 2.0 is optimized for both and a fair test is run. If the numbers come out in favor of the Xoom and Tegra, I'd love to see their explanation for that!

It's not even that, the benchmark didn't use all available OpenGL libraries on the Xoom. I don't know if I fault GL Benchmark for this, just the people using it.

Really looking at the Samurai game on both devices I think the Xoom is the winner. I never experience the ipad2 lag I see on YouTube.
