iPad Mini resolution no match for Nexus 7.

I don't get the big deal about the cameras. Sure a front one is useful but I always carry my phone as I'm sure a lot of techies do. My phone has a great 8 mp camera with flash and image stabilize. So why have one on the tablet. Seriously I can't be the only person with a good phone camera

I don't have a smartphone (my parents won't let me), but I do have a point and shoot if I want to snap photos. I would rather have a lower-priced tablet without a rear-cam.
The things I might use if it had a camera, would probably be AR apps and maybe some scanners. Still, I don't think having a rear camera makes the iPad mini better than the other 7-inch Androids out there. And, I always have the front-facing for video-calling, the most sensible reason for a tablet camera.

Some things are worth paying for.

Just wait a week or two before purchasing and you can plop down an extra $80 for it. It's really not that difficult.

LOL! Wow. I have to call you out buddy. $80 is a heck of a lot of money. I'm a college student who just bought my first tablet the N7 to be able to view my books without taking all of them. Have you been to college? Are you aware that $80 is like 3 maybe 4 weeks worth of food and a good chunk for bills?

Do you eat crackers or something? Very efficient :p

lol no need to mock poor college students. at my absolute lowest point, when all my money went to club dues, I survived on ~$10 a week for food. Pasta, eggs, potatoes, pasta sauce, tortillas, rice, cheese, etc, was my diet. when you don't work and your parents don't piss gold for you, $80 is a lot of money. but seriously, it's pretty hard to spend $80 on food for one person, unless they can't cook.

I could survive entirely on rice and eggs. :D My two most favorite foods in the world.

lol I'm not mocking, I'm serious! I've tried cutting my food budget to figures around there (~$20 a week) and I simply cannot. I even went on a cracker + hot sauce diet when I was in undergrad! lol

Anywho, this is off topic. But seriously, I'm very curious so if you have any tips PM me :).

Lol. I try to go to the grocery every other week, usually sped just under $80. I never go out to eat and never get fast food to save money. I do a lot of cooking too which helps cut costs.

I was torn for a long time on getting a tablet seeing how that money is so much ($199). I was able to sell my Xbox 360 for a good bit which almost paid for the N7.

Point is, I look at price first. Then I look at other features when it comes to purchasing something like this. The price difference between the iPad (even used ones) is just way too much.

I'm in Aus and I just looked on the Dick Smiths website and the price of the Nexus 7 16GB has dropped $50. Its now $269 which is more than the US but better than the $320 before!

lol now that I have a pt job, I can't imagine not spending like $20 a week for food. it helps to have no dignity, and a $.99 store (for like, pasta sauce) on a bus route from your campus. I think I just added a lot of empty calories from like, olive oil, to fill me up. and lots of snacks.

forreal, egg-fried rice with random frozen veggies mixed in, that's my college comfort food lol. spam musubi's pretty great too :P

The only reason I can see people choosing the iPad mini over something like the N7 is if they're pretty committed to the Apple store--I mean, it's a pain to buy the same apps for separate devices. For tablet newcomers, the iPad Mini isn't the affordable alternative some were hoping for. And its specs don't really stand out.

WOW this thread is HUGE...You ppl care to much what other ppl are doing and stress out over silly things. I'm about to stress you out even more. I have both a ipad and Transformer Prime and I will tell you this...I will keep buying a new ipad when I think it's time for me to upgrade, but I won't be updating my transformer Prime. I get more enjoyment using my ipad especially when browsing the web. Try using a site that makes you click on a drop down menu with options on a android tablet. It freaking makes you open up a whole new page instead of letting you go through the options to pick. It works great on a ipad and many sites actually are made just for the ipad. Don't let me get started on the apps it's just plain laughable. Anyone that has both devices just look at the Weather Channel app and compare them both. App is sexy as hell on the ipad and a hot mass on my Transformer. If I had a HD Camcorder I would make a video on this issue so everyone can see.

Guess what: you just made this thread even bigger! And I don't know how we're stressing out, we're merely discussing pros and cons of two comparable products. If you don't have anything positive or helpful, then maybe you shouldn't participate on this topic.

actually I did add something to the thread did you not read? People are stressing out popping blood vessels have you not read this whole thread? The rage is flowing through this thread and fanboys are going ape . Don't get your panties wet because I'm not talking up the Nexus 7. You want me to be just like the ppl you call isheep but in android clothing. You can go ahead and do it but i'll posting what ever I feel like.

I don't see how complaining about an unrelated Android devices' drop-down menu while browsing helps one bit. Also, calling the Play Stores selection 'laughable' was unnecessary and provocative. I'm not an Android cannot as I own a variety of devices and like them all.
I don't want to have an argument but please either contribute or go away.

tee hee. :)

oh, and the mini has a scratch-prone finish if you order black...

So why does this matter to you? You like your own device - congratulations, I am happy for you. This teenage boy level, lets compare mine to yours got old in all of the forums a long time ago. If you don't like it then don't buy it. I personally think the Nexus 7 feels cheap in comparison to most mainstream tablets on the market, but I don't pick on Nexus 7 owners about it.

I've always thought the rear camera should of been the first to go in an effort to cut costs. I saw too many tablets that had a meager 512mb of ram and then a built in rear camera, it's like cut that rear camera and double the ram!

My flyer had a camera, but it was grainy and didn't have a flash. I didn't care about it much but seeing how grainy it was made it even more pointless

It certainly may not feel as premium but lots of people, including me, love the textured back and its (more) scratch resistant design.

No I will not go away I contributed to the thread if you like it or not. My post had everything to do with this thread did u not read the whole thread? Now you are the one cluttering the thread by telling whining like a little school girl. I know you're new here but ppl here do talk negative about android. Not everyone is fanboy and talk it up. So if you don't like what I post or what others post it's for you to leave.

I may be new but I don't go around calling people "little school girls" or "fanboys". Looking through your posts, it seems that you don't really offer much help and you seem to love arguments. This is an Android forum and although it's fine to dislike or post about negative experiences, name-calling and arguing isn't necessary.

Sorry to fill up your space with off-topic arguments everyone else.
