iPad Mini resolution no match for Nexus 7.

So why does this matter to you? You like your own device - congratulations, I am happy for you. This teenage boy level, lets compare mine to yours got old in all of the forums a long time ago. If you don't like it then don't buy it. I personally think the Nexus 7 feels cheap in comparison to most mainstream tablets on the market, but I don't pick on Nexus 7 owners about it.

Apple invites my derision because of its superior attitude. I despise Apple. That's my right, fella.

The people holding this ipad mini must have giant hands. The nexus 7 is as wide as i can hold comfortably, and is a centimeter and a half less wide. That's a big difference.;)

iPad mini...bleh. Not impressed. Just more of the same from Apple, in my opinion. I am digging that 32GB Nexus 7, though. I don't have a tablet of any sort but if ends should permit, I'd most definitely choose a Nexus 7 over anything else currently available.

No I will not go away I contributed to the thread if you like it or not. My post had everything to do with this thread did u not read the whole thread? Now you are the one cluttering the thread by telling whining like a little school girl. I know you're new here but ppl here do talk negative about android. Not everyone is fanboy and talk it up. So if you don't like what I post or what others post it's for you to leave.

Hello moderators? Time for some action here. "whining like a little school girl", earlier "wet panties". Enough already.

Heating up in here.. Goodness.

I used to get caught up in fanboyism but I try not to now. When I got my hdtv in 2008, I wanted an hd gaming system and bluray. A bluray player was $400 and so was the ps3,and the 360 was plagued with rrod problems. So for me the choice was a no brainer and all of a sudden I was a ps3 fanboy ripping on 360 fans left and right on message boards. I eventually realized how stupid I was being. How does it change my life if someone buys a 360 instead, and not to mention my ps3 replaced my first gen xbox as my main game console. You can argue with people but you aren't going to change their minds, and its none of your business anyway.

So if think the ipad is better more power to ya. I really don't care either way to each their own

I love fanbois. They are so single minded that they can rip apart Apple users for acting superior and being brainwashed...All while acting superior and behaving like they are brainwashed against Apple.

The utter lack of self awareness never fails to amuse me.

I guess someone can't just be a fan of tech, one MUST pick sides and denigrate the other. Oh well, I will sit over here wih my Galaxy S 3, iPhone 4 and HP Touch pad and refuse to pick sides.

even I have 10 ipods at home (split between me and the missus). I pick what I like, regardless of the mfgr. However, in recent times, apple has ceased to be a mfgr that I want to be buying from. I don't blame others for not buying into the "it just works" mantra, "you have to have [insert Apple product name here] or you aren't cool". talk about childish. Apple's sue-happy nature also doesn't endear them to anyone not drinking their kool-aide. Is it any wonder that Apple polarizes consumers so passionately? I maintain that their haughty attitude has brought on the bulk of the derisive comments directed towards them and their products. If they showed a lot less hubris, perhaps we'd all be more tolerant of Apple. There is no electronics mfgr that I despise more than Apple. It shouldn't be all that difficult to figure out why, when you look at the totality of Apple's past and current business practices and attitudes. They (IMO) stick it to their customers buy charging too much for INCREMENTALLY upgraded products. Look how long it took them to embrace 4G. It took them 2-1/2 years to do cut and paste, following the release of the first iPhone!

However, I don't agree with the discussion turning from passionate love/hate of a product or mfgr, to rudeness aimed at others in the discussion. I think if we can voice our OPINIONS on products/mfgrs without getting nasty with each other, that should be permitted without constraint.

that's my two cents.

honestly I am no apple fan boy, I have an ipad 2... and am buying a note 2 (upgrading old android phone) when my contract is up on the 1st. So I am as level headed as they come to this "war"

However anyone that buys an ipad mini is probably half ed... the ipad 2 is still a fantastic tablet and will now be probably the same price refurbed from apple as the mini is new. Anyone spending the same money to have literally a smaller version of an ipad 2 is an idiot.

There are a lot of resolution "nerds" out there, but there to me is no need to cram all of those pixels into a tablet, upgrade a processor and charge 200 dollars more... the ipad 2 is still way above average to me and is better *hides* than 90-95%% of the android tablets I have played around with including the nexus 7. I am not even trolling, just my 2 cents and honest opinion.. just trying to point out how dumb it would be to spend 329 on an ipad mini.

Sorry, you can't call someone dumb for wanting it. Some people are willing to pay the price for something easier to hold and lighter that can run the apps that they're already invested in via iOS

the biggest reason why I like Android more than Apple is the homescreens. When holding an Apple product the homescreens feel so 'meh' because you basically have screens full of app icons and thats it. Sure, having folders help a little bit, but it's just so rigid and predictable. I barely have ANY app icons on my homescreens because that's what Swipepad, MoreQuicklyDock, and Dock4droid is for!! Homescreens deserve to have WIDGETS DAMNIT!

i have to agree with you that someone who buys an ipad isn't a idiot, simply because of their buying choice.

gee, I'll probably forget half of why I like Android, but here goes.

1. It's not a BB ( I had a Storm 2 for more than a year. it was THE worst product I've ever owned).

2. customization

3. widgets

4. lack of iron fisted control compared to apple

5. does what I want (similar to how PC's have a lot more utility (read: apps) than the Mac)

6. cheaper (i can afford to spend more, but I don't WANT to)

7. Larger screens!! (I may be getting the Note 2 soon)

The bottom line is that I really, really like Android OS. There are some issues with certain releases, but for the most part I think it's every bit as "cool" as iOS. I own numerous ipods and have four Touchs. I never use them because the OS is boring for me and the screens are TOO SMALL.

I'm not married to any of this stuff and if something else comes along that's "better" I would be happy to give it a try.

The problem is with apple. They have created the hysteria with the greatest marketing department ever. Anyone who can sell a debatably equal product (and I think it is inferior in many ways) for a significantly higher premium price should get some sort of award. The superior attitude of many apple lovers is down right off putting, in addition the "we invented it" misconception that they continue to promote via the marketing and via their non-stop bully efforts to sue everyone. They declared war on Androind, and they are often the ones complaining about the return fire.

This thread started with the idea that the Nexus 7 had a better screen resolution. It was not someone who stood up and said my product is better than your product, it was APPLE who said theirs was better, and this thread was a response to an attack by Apple. There are certainly pros and cons to each system. We can debate them all day long, and often times they are apples to oranges comparisons. Apple has done 1 great thing for me.. they drove the market. They are proof that competition drives innovation. I own a Nexus because the iPad Mini exists. I cannot deny that fact, and as much as I enjoy the Nexus, I must give some credit to apple for it. (the ipad mini may have been behind the increase in memory capacities on the Nexus, thus breaking down the final barrier to my resistance to purchase it).

well said. I wish I could communicate as well as you just did. thanks.

Yeah there are no sides. Honestly before the nexus 7, an ipad was a no brainer for a tablet. The whole android tablet market was a mess. They could show off a tablet like the xoom that was superior on paper to the ipad but wouldn't perform half as well and require a second mortgage to be able to afford one. 7 inch tablets were a joke for a long time because they would cost as much as an ipad and had froyo and gingerbread on them, and laggy performance and no tablet optimization, and the same update problems existed that android phones had. Imo the nexus is the first Android tablet worth buying. That's kinda how I feel. I guess the gtab2 is okay, if you wanna deal with touchwiz and slow updates

WOW this thread is HUGE...You ppl care to much what other ppl are doing and stress out over silly things. I'm about to stress you out even more. I have both a ipad and Transformer Prime and I will tell you this...I will keep buying a new ipad when I think it's time for me to upgrade, but I won't be updating my transformer Prime. I get more enjoyment using my ipad especially when browsing the web. Try using a site that makes you click on a drop down menu with options on a android tablet. It freaking makes you open up a whole new page instead of letting you go through the options to pick. It works great on a ipad and many sites actually are made just for the ipad. Don't let me get started on the apps it's just plain laughable. Anyone that has both devices just look at the Weather Channel app and compare them both. App is sexy as hell on the ipad and a hot mass on my Transformer. If I had a HD Camcorder I would make a video on this issue so everyone can see.

Okay. I will call you out on this. I have a transformer prime as well and although there are some things I don't like (the navigation thing on websites) i want to ask about really specific apps. The weather one doesn't apply to me because I use the weather network app in Canada and it looks great. The main thing I keep asking people is what app do you get on an ipad that has no alternative on android. I'm not talking about rare and odd apps. I mean the day to day stuff.

Here a few I know of:
1. Facebook
2. AC forums and tapatalk
3. Twitter?

Something that does get over looked is the cost for apps. You pay twice for iphone and ipad. Usually once for android and usually less. Lus non optimized apps look like complete crap on an ipad where they can scale and look pretty good on android. You also have more features on your Prime for HDMI output, SD card support, USB support, the keyboard dock with extra battery life.

I guess what I am trying to say is that although there are some benefits to the ipad there as still many more that you are not mentioning for the Prime.

The Asus products have been great in my experience. Not perfect but still very good. Updates have been fast and furious. Honeycomb to ICS to now Jellybean all within a year. I believe that trumps ios for updates. As I mentioned earlier there are lots of good and bad with each device, we just need to give credit where it is due.

The only reason I would want a rear camera on a tablet would be to scan barcodes/tags. Doesn't happen enough to warrant a larger price tag but when tech parts come down in price, would be nice to have one. Otherwise $199 - $250 is the price range for me on a 7". Once the price reaches ~$300, a new market opens up, IMO.

I have to admit, Apple makes sexy looking tech and their marketing is phenomenal, but I still boycott Apple for my own reasons and refuse to buy or purchase items from them. If you like it, good for you. We should count ourselves lucky to have choices and first world problems. I don't give people a headache over such things, life is too short to feel upset and angry all the time.
