Greetings!
I'm new here:) I've heard great things about this forum. Im a person who researches my smart phone before purchase. I've had one iPhone, 3GS model. I had a palm centro. And also a windows based phone called a samsung blackjack. I had several issues with windows software. Found little assistance from AT&T reps. So, I started researching and finding solutions online. The iPhone 4S is a dissapointment to me. I plan to purchase my first android device. I'm debating on the samsung galaxy 2, or waiting for the HTC Holiday to be released.

Welcome to Android Central and the Android community. The SGS II from any of the supporting carriers is a great device. Only possible downfall that anyone can see to the SGSII is Samsung's past history of slow updates otherwise its an excellent device. HTC on the other hand is excellent as well.

Best of luck on your decision and welcome again to the forums.

That's what's holding me back. I'd like to get software updates in a timely manner. Everything I've read says that Samsung is slow to offer them. I just wish There was an official release date for the Holiday. The most I've found is that it has passed FCC

I understand your frustrations. The SGSII is a great device from everything I've read and I was a previous Samsung Epic 4g owner of 9 months. That to was a great device but it did suffer from slow updates. I did take the path of rooting and custom ROMs soon after getting my Epic 4g so at that point updates didn't really matter to much to me because the custom ROMs were far better than anything Sammy or any carrier could produce.

If the HTC device has only passed FCC then there will still be a bit of a wait before that is on the market.

If you don't mind waiting a bit longer I would say hold out a bit, holidays are right around the corner and those X-MAS prices and specials are gonna pop soon and make the market more tasty.
