I am not an Apple hater or Fanboy but I have to say that this is one boring upgrade. Whoopee! They added a better antenna so you can actually make a call without it dropping after a minute. Whoopee! They added a front facing camera so you can video chat (Assuming you are using a WiFi Connection). Whoopee! They brought the screen resoultion up to snuff with the rest of the current smart phones available. And wow, a 5MP camera. Only 3MP behind the current crop of available smartphones.

The fact is that the majority of the improvements are software related and will be available on current iPhones for download shortly.

Maybe in two years when the exclusivity deal runs out. Jobs is tapdancing as fast as he can to cover for the fact that his short-sighted greed in taking the AT&T kickback money has chained his products to the worst network and that the carrier's skyrocketing data rates will further strangle his growth.

Face it, when you're paying a small fortune for only 2GB of data and Wired magazine alone is a quarter of that, that means people will be afraid to buy too much content for fear of overrunning their limits. Since the iPhone and iPad are designed to be media content portal access devices for customers to pour in money, the fact that the roads are two-lane and unpaved with a 15 mph speed limit is going to get in the way.

Thing is, the deal must be made of kryptonite-reforced unobtainium if even the mighty Lord Jobs can't get out of it somehow. Karma's a b*tch, ain't it, Steve?

I think it helped. The only new things are a little better screen and video chat that only works wiht other iphones! That is a bunch of crap and people will still come for the Evo. The only bad thing is the media and reporters will still hail the GREAT STEVE JOBS and this will be the greatest phone ever made

I do like the looks of the iPhone 4, and the fact that video chat is available. I'm hooked on apple computers, but no verizon = me sticking with the droid.

Same small screen; still locked down; lower rez camera; and they think the killer app is a video chat app that only works with itself on its own phone and only over wifi while every other video chat phone can work over 3G. Besides, if you have two people near networks they're probably near computers meaning they can Skype their webcams for free and not have to buy a $199 proprietary piece of hardware.

One man, one phone, one company, one carrier = FAIL!!!

it does have video out via the connector dock, however you have to buy a proprietary apple branded cable that costs $100

While reading up on the coverage on engadget, I was wondering if i was the only one who thought "the interface still looks the freaking SAME as all the previous versions"? Even if I were on at&t and had a 3gs, it just doesn't MAKE me want to jump up and get in line for the iphone 4 this instant. I think a lot of others are thinking the same too bc if judging by the shear lack of comments on engadget (usually apple posts generate over 500 plus comments immediately), is an indication of people not necessarily jumping off the iphone bandwagon, but wanting a new experience or just something DIFFERENT. Yes there are a few new features, but its still the SAME to the naked eye, just on some rehashed and slightly sleeker hardware. My 2?

I will give my honest and open opinion seeing how Im not a fan of Iphones. I dont think it will hurt the Evo but it sure wont help it.

Sprint has done good job with this phone even with lack of 4g and the $10 charge. The only way this can help Sprint is by them now knowing what the main competition has to offer and gearing some of their ads to highlight the advantages over the Iphone.

co workers are iphone happy

All of the peaple that I work with have iPhones and they are going crazy for the new iPhone. They keep telling me about what it can do but when I say that the Evo does the same thing they act like I'm talking to my self. I ask them what can the iphone do that's different then my Nexus one and the just start quoting facts about how many it will sell. So I said you are right in that it will sell millions becouse its been out for 4 years and has a following. Android has only been around for a short time ( since the Droid came out is goton more POPULAR). So they have nothing and it drives them crazy that I don't like the iPhone.
