iPhone 4 vs. EVO/Incredible/X/Captivate discussion (Keep it civil!)

Won't happen. They have the most loyal fan base ever. Look Jobs has convinced them that flash is garbage and half of them even think AT&T is better than Verizon, even while they drop calls. Jobs will shovel them more BS and they will still line up and sell millions of iPhones.

Loyal fan base? Hardly. I've convinced most of my friends(who are true apple nerds) to switch to Android. Most people buy the phone because of the "prettiness" of it. Most people dislike the way the OS is handled.

I do think the OP has a point.
Sure, rule out the fanbase. There's still a good number who were just getting it because it's 'too cool'. There's also those on the fence for Android or iPhone and will now go Android.

You guys are both right.

About a third are under 18, and total koolaid drinking fanboys.
Another third have never seen another phone.
And the final third would trade in a moment if they had the money and could get out of their contract.

TiPb blog and forum has over the last 8 months become flooded with dissatisfied iPhone users, usually shouted down by kids who think Jobs IS God.

But iphone nation is fracturing visibly.

There's a lot of things I'll tolerate with a pda/phone. Even instability. But, bad reception is the reason I've stayed away from certain 'cool' smartphones. I'm still using my Gsm Treo Pro - Amazing reception.
In these forums posters are saying the Nexus is great on At&t.
And now the Aria is said to have great reception.
I say so what it can do all these cool things - I need a Phone!

I would imagine Android scores a decent amount of former iPhone folks every day if Rubin's statement of over 160,000 Android activations a day is true..

But really, what difference does it make. They are all on AT&T, it's not like they can actually make a call with 5 bars anyway. ;)

Long live the Death Star :p

Ah, its these times that I love being an Android-loving mod at a very popular Apple forum. its great. ;)

I know several At&t customers who'd love a decent Android device. Too bad At&t'd rather bow to jobs and carry the lowest of the low in terms of Android phones. I'm really surprised they finally jumped on the Galaxy S. Let's see how that unfolds.

My question is why are you a mod on an Apple forum and you're an Android user. Don't you know Apple finds people like you and "erase" your existence!

Apple will fix most, if not all, the iphone problems. Whether you love or hate the iphone no one can argue that for the most part they have a very high quality product (as far as how it works and if it works well) That's just part of their image and there's no way Jobs is going to put up with a shoddy product long term.

True, when I had an iPhone 3Gs, I would routinely get the famous "Call Failed" message when the phone was showing 4-5 bars.

hehe, iTards - love that one

Want to bet this one gets swept under the rug? When you're as big in media/publishing as Apple is (with their iTunes relationships, Jobs' stake in CBS, the publishing industry's reliance on the iPad to keep magazines from fading away, etc.) - do you risk that relationship by saying something honest about the phone, or just rave about how awesome an almost entirely crippled WiFi only videoconferencing option is?

Eh there are issues with any phone right off the first batch. Granted it IS ATT but look at the INC when it first came out. App Bugs, call bugs, screen touch issues when the phone was being touched, messaging bugs, reception issues when the phone was touched at certain points as well. It all turned my interest away from the phone pretty quick.

I experienced none of those things and I got mine 2 days before release

Those reports about the issues are interesting. I'm not convinced it is hardware or software related yet. Please, to all of those that like to call people fanboys. When you say that you look like a android "fanboy". I have owned everything short of a palm and i always try to keep an open mind about new devices. If there is something better on the market than what i have in my pocket I can admit that because that is classic Moores Law. This should be posted as a the iPhone seems to have issues and informative thread vs what it is. Trying to rub it in the face of people that own/want a iphone 4. That makes you a Android "fanboy" and no different from the people that you are talking about. Close minded and don't want to admit that something may be better than what you have. Open your mind. It will get you farther in life than being closed.

I love this! The other thing I just love is how their so-called "multi-tasking" does nothing more than give you a tabbed interface to switch between programs that are shut off when a new one is starting. At the job I work at a very prominent doctor comes in frequently, over the last month or so I have been showing him all the benefits of my Incredible (he has an iPhone 3G). He, as of two days ago, has decided he is not going to bother getting a 4G, rather switch his provider to Verizon and pickup a Droid Incredible as soon as it becomes available. I love droid. :)
