Does anyone know if the standard iPhone ear buds with mic and controls work on the Optimus V? I'm talking the controls as well as the mic.

I never had an Iphone, so I'm afraid I cannot answer your specific question.

But I want to point out that the ear buds that came with your OV do have a built-in mic - and they work very well. Some people overlook this and think they are just ear buds.

I use them all the time for longer conversations.

iPhone headset buttons will not work. I think the position of where the button are on the plug is the issue. I have used the ones that came with our optimus v and they are great. Do you want music controls? I use Player Pro which allows for headset controls, one press for play/pause, two to skip to next song, three to go back to the beginning of the song.

Thanks. Yeah, I've tried them, and functionally, they work great. But no where near as comfortable as Apple's headset. Sound quality is also a little bit worse on the LG set. Not like the Apple's are known for being hi-fi by any stretch though. Comfort basically wins for me at the end of the day. Hopefully someone can confirm if the iPhone headset work with the OV.

Funny I just tried the music controls on the headset with google music beta and they don't work. In the past the button on the lg headset use to work with the stock music player but it doesn't work with that anymore either. What's up with that?

if your feeling brave, splice the apple earbuds onto the LG headset. still get the mic function but with the comfort of the apple earbuds. all your doing is replacing the speakers. should be two wires and maybe a insulater to splice together.

i did this many times with other headphones.

Good idea. I might actually try that. I'm an electronics guy so this is no biggie. And I have a few pairs of Apple headphones too.

The Palm Pre earbuds work well. They're much more similar to the iPhones than the stock OV pair, and you can find them on Amazon for around 5 bucks.

Thanks for the reminder on that. I had seen that thread. I just bought one for $3 and change. Its def worth checking out at that price.

Cool. Happy to hear you like them. The two areas I hope the are comparable with the Apples is comfort and lack of cord noise (the rumble you get in your ears from the cable moving around. The Apples are very good in this regard.

my phone is my ipod and im very picky about my audio. Im constantly using the EQ and reverb effects and I listen to my music through nothing less than Sony studio monitor headphones with huge drivers. I couldnt ever go back to earbuds. :D
