Thanks for this awesome forum, for a while I have been deciding on switching from i.o.s to Android. I honestly think Apple cant innovate at all and the fact of the matter is they overprice their products, frankly the cost of an Iphone is a gigantic rip off considering for the price of a 64 GB iphone 5 you could get 2 Nexus 4`s which are alot better. I`m new to the Android world but i have been researching Android for a while now and seeing what Samsung and HTC are doing with their phones its converting me to android. I have narrowed my search between the HTC One , LG Nexus 4 , ( Note 3, i`m waiting till December to buy my phone) and The Galaxy S4.

My criteria that im looking for in my phone is :
- Center of all Media ( I only use my phone for music, videos and camera no other devices)
- This will be my first Android Phone so im looking for a phone that isnt too diffuclt to learn to use
- I love to watch movies on YouTube and i was wondering if all phones with a 1080P screen allow you to watch videos by default in 1080P resolution ( Stupid question i know)
- I love to play games on my phone so im not worried about that ( though i want smooth performance throughout my gaming)
- Easy to root.
- Removable battery and Expandable memory are extras for me but a great battery would be sweet.
-Decent Storage i current use an Iphone 4 32 GB
- I would like to root my phone so that's also a given
- I also want to use my phone as an alarm is their any way to do that while the phone is turned off.
- I always carry a spare charger with me.
oh and on a bonus note I wont be signing a contract I will be buying my device outright.

bonus question: I was stupid and bought movies and alot of south park off Itunes is their anyway to either transfer them to an android phone or convert them to mp4 files.

So what would be the best phone to get. HTC one or Galaxy s4 or Nexus 4 or wait for the Note 3 ( when it comes out.) .

Based on your criteria, you will have to rule out the Nexus 4, and the HTC One, as those don't have expandable storage or removable battery, if those are big selling points. I personally have the Galaxy S4, and it blows any phone I've had previously away (iPhone 5 included).

It has a great screen, awesome battery life, is moderately easy to root, has great storage space (I have the 16 GB version, but I have a 32 GB SD card, so I put all of my music on it), and I use it as an alarm through the use of many free alarm apps in the Play Store (which function with the screen locked).

So my suggestion is the S4.

I'm a little confused. Are you waiting until December no matter what, or only if you decide on the Note 3? If it's that you're waiting no matter what then I don't see any reason to even consider what's out right now. It's like asking what car you should get in four years. You might as well just wait until then.

If not, then I agree that the Nexus is out. IIRC, the max storage you can get is an internal 16GB and that's not a whole lot.

I'd check out the size difference between the Note phones and the S4/One. If you want the bigger phone, go with the Note 3 (assuming other specs are good, which is a good bet). If you don't want a phablet then the Note 3 is out.

Between the S4 and the One there are many threads dedicated to that exact debate. The One has more internal storage for the money and the S4 has expandable storage. The One has better sound (especially when using the speakers) and the S4 takes better pictures in all conditions but low light.

You can use Android phones as alarm clocks, but they will have to be on for that to work. If you always have a charger with you then this won't be an issue. Just plug it in. There won't be a reason to turn it off.
