iPhone User Thinking Of Making The Jump

Made the jump from an iPhone 4s to a Note then to the HOX and this phone is far beyond both. I own an iPad 2 and a MacBook Pro so I'm not an Android fanboy and I can say that iOS 6 looked pretty much the same as 5. The only cool thing was that they added sports scores and more to Siri which doesn't matter to me since I have an older iPad. Make the jump, I doubt you'll regret it.

Here's a question. There are some apps that I've bought for my iPhone, what's the chances of not having to repurchase them all again for Android? Here's a quick list.

TeamSpeak
IM+ Pro
Counterpath Bria
iVMControl

That's really the ones I care about.

No chance...you'll have to buy them all again unfortunately.

So I just made the jump on Sunday. And after a few carrier glitches that I got resolved in a day I'm enjoying my first Android experience. The phone is fast! LTE is crazy. And the apps are good. A couple I'm going to have to repurchase, but not a big deal. Less than $20.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.

I also miss double tapping the home button to toggle rotate screen on/off and the music controls anywhere in an app.

The screen doesn't wake up when you get a text...Why? I don't have the slightest clue. So you have to manually press the power button every time.
!

#1 - try looking for an autorotate program. Assign it to your search key, so every time you longpress on the search key, it will toggle the screen rotatoin for you

#2 -try using handcent sms, it gives you a popup and wakes up screen

The biggest thing I miss is tap to go to the top in any iphone app. There is nothing in android that does it and it drives me crazy to have to scroll all the way back to the top.

But either way you can go wrong. Both are great platforms and each have pluses and minuses.

SGSIII has double tap the top of phone to get to top of screen

Also can't find a replacement for the tap to return to the top, instead of scrolling the entire way up.

honestly man, just get the SGSIII, esp coming from an iphone...it is the "flagship" android phone....you won't look back

I had the HOX and got the SGSIII and it is a million times better

I really don't like the way the SIII looks. I'm happy with my choice of the One X. Did a lot of research before picking up this phone. Started looking in to it well over a month ago.

all the basic things the iphone can do, it does it much better. mobile safari might not be the best but i have a better experience with it than most android browsers. actually, chrome for iOS seems A LOT better than on android also. i dont even use it on android whereas its my main browser on my ipad.

bitesms is the best messaging app. i miss it. a lot. there are some that try to be like it on android but none of them are as good as bite sms.

my personal opinion is that, yes, in most cases, android can do more and has more customization, but what iOS can do, it does it SOOOO much better and smoother.

and in terms of jailbreaking and rooting, i think its better on the iphone too. so many more tweaks and stuff and almost all are compaitble with the iphone. for android, installing a rom is about as far as it goes. there are some mods here and there but they do not really change the way you iteract with your phone as much.

apps on play store seriously just arent built as good as on the app store.

but i do not regret getting a one x. its fun to learn and play with a new device and new ecosystem
